Long story short: my car was stolen, recovered july 30th, been put in an impound. The whole time no insurance, and I don't want the car because it's stripped and I lost around 3k with the car. The car's been found 3-4 hrs away from here and that's where it is, undrivable.

The fees have accumulated to 1200 bux. Do I have to pay for the fees of the car still? I talked to the owner and they say yes ( obviously ) , few of my friends say after 3 months the car becomes theirs anyway. What i'm worried about is, can they actually sue me for any amount? They've never had an approval from me to put it there and I don't want the car, simple as that. Why should I keep spending more money on it.

Anyone familiar with this? I'm gonna call a few places tomorrow but I just wanna see if anyone's gone through this and such. Thanks.
