Default Diabetic Man Missing After Being Kicked Off Train
"He was let off in the middle of a national forest, which is about 800,000 acres of beautiful pine trees," Lt. Mike Graham said. How very poetic - beautiful trees indeed. Some poor sod is missing in the middle of nowhere and this muppet is spouting tourism propaganda!

I hope he is, so he can sue the hell out of them. I think it is pathetic, even if it was a drunk, forcing them off a train in the middle of nowhere is just insane.

Let's hope he is ok!

Being that I'm diabetic this pisses me the **** off. Of course he should have a medical alert bracelet on, and they should have looked at it. If he didn't then they still should have looked to see if it was a mdeical problem [thumbdown]

[rofl]

I think he got carried away...

Maybe he knows the place himself and couldn't resist how pretty it must be out there..

Drunk, Diabetics whatever does not make an excuse of putting someone off a train because his behaviour.

I believe that when travelling with such a passenger, who causes annoyance, should be dismissed on a proper way, like first Stop and contact authorities who take it from there.

If it was obvious the man had problems taking care of himself, it does not matter what the reason behind it are, the man should have been looked after.

Dutch cops once thrown out a sick homeless man from there jail, he died not much later. he equired medical assistance as well.

More to ask is how could the diabetic get in such a state. no insuline, did he took off from his home as in running away.. why didn't he take his medication, or maybe he ate food while not have been thinking about taking his insuline.. A lot of questions come to mind when thinking about this.

Yeah I agree, but really.. anyone who is not in the state of taking care of his/herself should not be left to their fate alone.

Well, after reading the second link, I noticed that the dude ran off when officers rolled up. So is it really Amtrak's fault that he decided to run off into a forest when someone was coming up? Hmmm. . .sounds like a defense to me.

And having dealt with some Amtrak personnel. . .they're not the brightest or friendliest people.

Has anyone else seen the CSI (*spoiler) where a guy with some disorder on a plane acts drunk and eventually the people in first class murder him? Great episode.

I recently read about this in the local paper. (I'm from Arizona) I have to say that this is horrible. My wife is diabetic and she has gone into shock similiar to that described in this story and it's pretty scary thing when it happens. (not often thank god) A diabetic can go into shock for any number of reasons, lack of insulin, too much sweets, or an infection. Usually when a diabetic gets to the point of appearing to be drunk they are in serious trouble. After this stage of shock they can go into a coma and/or die without medical attention. Considering that they dropped him off way out in the middle of nowhere I would not be surprised if they ending finding him dead. Amtrack is gonna be in huge trouble if this is the case.
