I usually drink beer and whisk(e)y. I generally like most of everything in those categories, and what I don't like I can tolerate enough to drink without a problem. However, recently I decided to broaden my horizons and try wine. I searched Bevmo for the highest rated wines in the $10-$20 range, and picked a couple out. One was Mason Sauvignon Blanc '05, and the other was Michael Pozzan Merlot Special Reserve '05. I started off with the Merlot with my steak. It made me cringe; I felt physically ill. Could not even drink it. I tried, and I felt like I was going to throw up.
So, I decided to give it another shot and opened up the Sauvignon Blanc; same thing. I could not taste past that winy flavor. Although this wasn't as bad as the Merlot, I still couldn't drink it. I don't understand it. I drink whiskies and beers that make most people cringe, but can't take a little wine. |

I have a friend who likes sweet wines; I might give it a chance next time I go over to her place. |

if you spent a bit more then i doubt that it was a bad quality wine, although as said something like a bad cork can make the wine taste bad
personally i enjoy a good wine msyelf but red not white, not something i drink often as its more for meals and things. however its good if your partner enjoys it as well, as it means you can enjoy a nice glass of wine in an evening |
