It was about a boy who explored the universe by riding comets that he caught in a net.

What I can remember:
It was about a boy would lived on a small planet all by himself. At one point, he planted a... plant that was half plant half woman. When he decided to live his plant, he made a path from a river to divert to the plant girl so she wouldn't die. Then he caught a comet in his net and rode off... somewhere...

I grew up with it on vhs, so it most likely came out in the early 80s or 70s.
