I have YAHOO mail but like to use MS Outlook to manage my emails.

Someone told me that Mozilla Thunderbird was a better way to do that.

Does Thunderbird work the same way as Outlook? Can I manage my Yahoo mail through it effectively?

Yes it does support Yahoo! mail.

On the functionality side, it's pretty similar to Outlook Express (so no calendar)

Mozilla does have a separate calendar program in the works though...

I use Thunderbird for the spam filters. I get over 20 pieces of spam a day now, all filtered.
