Ruger 10/22 is the defacto .22 rifle.

I'm probably going to pick one up with the threaded barrel once I get my supressor.

A .22 can be fun if you have a place to plink at things. It does get boring pretty fast. Fire up a nice 7MM Remington magnum. That will put a smile on your face and a bruise on your shoulder after a couple shots.

BTW I have an olddddddddddd (grandfather gave it to me when I was 2 because he knew he wouldnt be around much longer and left a nice note on the box to me on it and told my parents to give it to me when I was old enough) Marlin semi auto and I also have a Remington bolt action. Both great guns and fun to shoot.

^^^ .22s are a blast because ammo is cheap and there's tons of it. If you want, you can go pretty much anywhere in the woods with some subsonic rounds, shoot a box or two, and pretty much no one will ever even know you were shooting. [yes]

My friend has one of those. He bought and fully restored a 1945 k98. I always thought they were 7.92mm, but he says it's 8mm.

The bullet diameter is 7.92mm, but the round designation is the 8mm Mauser.

And the Ruger 10/22 probably has more accessories than the AR-15.
