This is good for a laugh:

I placed an order with these people on the 9th of this month... quite a large order in terms of numbers of items and the total was a shade over £250. Everything was in stock bar a case and a wireless networking bundle that I had ordered. The case was overdue for arrival when I placed the order and the networking kit had no date attached to it.

Anyway, I waited patiently for over a week for both items to arrive and eventually the case did - I then emailed them to ask when the networking kit would be in stock, this was part of the reply I recieved:

Alternatively, you can select one of the following options:

1. Choose an alternative. A refund/debit will be processed wherever necessary.
2. Cancellation and refund of the item in question.

Please contact me to advise at your earliest convenience. Whichever option you choose, please be assured that your order will then be despatched with the utmost urgency.
So thats exactly what I did... I replaced the kit with a seperate modem and wireless card. This was now a week and a half after placing the order and they have also had the payment in full - including around £17 for 'next day delivery'.

Another five days pass...

I notice this monday morning that the kit that I had originally ordered was now 'in stock' and seeing that the items that I had paid for were still sat on their shelves I thought it might be nice to amend the order back to the products that I had shown my parents that they were... ahem, investing in. A very quick reply ensued and the order was changed back.

Come lunch time I thought it would be a good idea to check to see if the order had progressed from the 'have the order, got the money, that'll do' stage and much to my surprise the wireless kit was now back to 'pre-order' status.

Another e-mail, another reply...

Estimated Despatch Date: 18/10/06

Further to your request, I can confirm that I have made the following amendments to your order:

Deleted:
1X USR ADSL2 MODEM ROUTER INC USB

Added:
LN9138 - Sweex LW053 54G USB2
LN8278 - BT ADSL/2/2+ Wless Router/Modm

As a result, a further £7.44 has been debited from your card.

We will aim to despatch your order to meet the estimate above
Please note the estimated despatch date... this email was sent on the 19th!!

Then this morning I recieved yet another email stating that the socket A heatsink that I ordered was now out of stock and if I would like to replace/remove this item then the order could be progressed. Looking at their site it appears that the next socket A heatsink costs over £17 - a little more than I had bargained paying since the Akasa sink that I had ordered was £6, I gave that a miss and changed the order to include a quieter 80mm fan that I can stick on the existing heatsink.

Rather foolishly it seems, I placed another order with them yesterday afternoon for a Logitech wireless mouse/kb/remote set and a Digital TV box for £29.36 and £16.44 respectively. Seeing today that (what a surprise) the original order still had not been shipped I thought instead of paying an extra £7 to these people needlessy I would tack it onto the original order whilst swapping the heatsink for the fan. A simple procedure I would have thought although I was concerned that the fan was cheaper than the heatsink and the extra items may confuse them - what with a refund AND a debit going on at the same time!!

... it seems my concern was well founded...

The mouse/kb/remote is now £31.71 and the TV box £25.84. Whilst still being advertised on their site for the original prices. FFS!

I have just emailed them again and I am awaiting yet another non-personalised white wash to appear in my inbox.

Thanks scan, I can see how you won this award... again [rolleyes]

It looks like one of those things when a good company occasionally slips up and it landed on you.

I've used them quite a lot in the past, and never had a problem. But I know how annoying it is when a company messes up your order, hope you get it sorted soon. Guess that is one customer they have lost eh?

I guess the same goes for OCUK and other retailers.

If they have say....10,000 orders in a month and a hundred slip ups it's still 1% of the volume.

i'm not looking for them to turn around and say 'we will give you this that and the other' because that is just unrealistic but at least a small apology would be nice.

just this second i have a despatch notice - for the f'ing order i asked them to cancel!!!!

edit: my reply... this is the latest in a long string of similarly toned emails - not once have they answered any of my questions before so i thought i should add WHY? to the end of most sentences

Hello again,

Further to my email this morning asking you to add two items to this order (the logitech bundle and the digital TV box) and cancel the other order that these two products were originally on (E768361) I have just recieved a 'stage 3 of 4 - picked' email for this order (E768361).

I see that you have added the items to E758998 and not removed them from E768361 - why? Also for the same items on one order you are charging £10+VAT extra between the two on the other - why? Also this order was placed yesterday and the other on the 9th and the order from the 9th is still not picked - why?

Obviously I donot want two logitech bundles and two digi boxes so I would ask that you remove them from this order (E758998). I have given up any hope of consolodating the two orders so it looks as though I am going to be paying two p+p charges just for fun... still, better than paying an extra £11.75 for no apparent reason I suppose.

Many thanks,
Mark Butler

If you heven't already, register to the Hexus forums, and post your dialema in the Scan forum. A lot of the Scan dudes visit it daily and always try their best to sort out problems. They might even give you a small reimbursment if your lucky

Also instead of messing about with emails, why dont you just pick up the phone? The problem could be sorted in a matter of 5 minutes.
