lol I know what you mean. When I have people in the office come to me and ask me if I can set it up that they can do work from home I have to ask if they are sure or not. I'm pretty happy though that most of the work I do from home is the network restart every Sunday evening.

For me it's better.
I'm on call for a week every 3 or 4 weeks. I'd MUCH rather fix whatever's broken from home then drive the 40 minutes it takes to get to work.

Think of it as a blessing, not a curse

I get paid time and a half at union scale when I VPN in from home after hours. I like it.

I can pick up my work emails from home.

Its the worst thing that ever happened. Once I claimed for a week that my access was broken and I could not get into my inbox remotely - but sadly IT saw through that one pretty sharpish [no]

i refuse to setup this, i could but i won't

mainly cause a lot of my software support is exactly that remote desktopn, so imagine logging onto my work machine from home. vnc to machine in dublin for a 56k modem dial in followed by vnc onto another machine at the customers end, no chance of doing anything with that
