Default Have PCs replaced stereo systems?
I was looking for some speaker wire today and realized that all the audio shops around here have gone car-audio only. I had to go to freaking radio shack of all places to get my bit.

Hmm...maybe it's a Tennessee thing? No such issues around here.

Well I have.

I have an Apple Airport Express contected to some speakers in the lounge. I just need to pick up a laptop and select a song in iTunes to play some music.

Yep, same for me. Since my compter is a good bit away from the stereo I actually have a apple G4 powerbook with a bad screen hooked up to the stereo with the S-video out on the TV. Using a wireless KB/mouse combo I can surf the net, play video and mp3's from my computer.

those home audio stores charge way too much for speaker wire anyways, I just went down to a hardware store and bought some nice thick copper wire when I set up my stereo system

Ive gone the expensive wire route a few times on some decent systems, but I could never really tell much of a difference. I don't buy into the expensive wiring gimic unless it is for a very high end system, which I don't have and can't comment on.
