Forgot to return hotel door card key

Just got back from holiday and realised I forgot to return the card key. I forgot all about it when I checked out, and the person at reception didn't ask for it. What should I do? Let them know, send it back, or do as my bro said: just forget about it? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo.../confused1.gif

Send it back. Now you know you have it, it would be theft should you decide to keep it.

Send an anonymous ransom note demanding a small payment (of your discretion) for it's return.

But it's just a piece of plastic with a magnetic stripe on it. It's probably worth pennies.

I forgot to return my key card the last time I stayed at the Courtyard on business. I doubt I'm on their don't stay list.

If it would make you feel better, you can probably call and ask. What's the worst they can say or do?

NumsAmenniams 08-09-2012 07:17 AM

They just throw them out or recycle the cards anyways. I've stayed in dozens of hotels and they never ask for the them back. You don't need to return it.

Rffkwfct 08-09-2012 07:17 AM

I have a collection of them.

I hung them on my trophy wall.

CIAFreeAgent 08-09-2012 07:32 AM

RANSOM!

AndyScouchek 08-09-2012 07:37 AM

The whole reason they switched to card keys is for situations like this.

The code on the card has cycled now that you have checked out so just throw it away.

Forget about it. The key card is just a piece of plastic that they put in a machine and put a code on. It gets wiped when you should have checked out and they are completely disposable. I have about 150 of them from hotels I have stayed in (I'm a sad git and I like collecting them).

Unlinozistimi 08-09-2012 02:47 PM

You are a thief and a liar. I hope the hotel presses charges on you for this.

This is why everything is so expensive. Way to go!

Gymngatagaica 08-09-2012 03:38 PM

I've done it numerous times. Forget about it.

Roneyslelry 08-09-2012 04:40 PM

OK, thanks. I shall rest easy. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/smile1.gif

Assunkkensatt 08-09-2012 07:47 PM

Yeah, their access also expires as well. The hotel won't really miss it.

I think he was making fun of you.

those cards expire the moment you check out. It wont work on any door in that hotel

Listen Bungle, there is nothing wrong with this question. I wondered the same when I first used one. You should expect some sarcastic answers though because all Brits take the piss when someone asks a question they already know the answer to, myself included.

It is funny because the running joke is that he lives a sheltered life in his mother's attic. Then he posts something that most people think is obvious.

There was nothing wrong with the question a decade ago, I agree. Bungle is over 30 years old and extremely handsome:

The only thing that's obvious in this thread is how much of **** you are. I know your sort. You disgust me.

In your monitor thread, it's almost 100 replies and no bickering. Add DM and Bungle to the mix and it's a shitter. Therefore we can deduce that Bungle and/or DM is what's wrong with this forum http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo.../rolleyes1.gif

sarcasm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
