Back up. And it has never been so. And it is still not so (Even in states/countries that recognize gay marriage). And those who argue for gay marriage from the standpoint that it is, make me want to change to be against gay marriage because it would be terrible if marriage was a basic right for anyone. JM |

Because I am against and not a fan of:
1. Marriage where one or more people are very young. 2. Marriage between blood relations. 3. Marriage between more than 2 people. 4. Marriage between a human and a non-human. And so on.... I think they would be damaging to society. I don't think that 'gay marriage is a slippery slope'. I do think that 'marriage is a fundamental right' has implications though. JM |

Mating is pretty fundamental to the human animal. Although I did think some german prisoners were arguing that? No, it was some german old folks who argued that they should be 'taken care of'? Anyways, no fundamental right to mate. Obviously if there is no fundamental right to mate, there is no fundamental right to marriage. JM |

It is also negative to add fundamental rights for everything. If we want to treat each and every person equally, then it makes perfect sense that like heterosexuals, gays should also be given the opportunity to marry. I'll repeat myself briefly: whereas gay marriage is not a fundamental right (like marriage is not a fundamantal right), in practice it is a human right, namely the right to non-discrimination. |
