Default Yes, it is time..1080p on Youtube !
1080P video soon to be supported on YouTube!

We're excited to say that support for watching 1080p HD videos in full resolution is on its way. Starting next week, YouTube's HD mode will add support for viewing videos in 720p or 1080p, depending on the resolution of the original source, up from our maximum output of 720p today http://youtube-global.blogspot.com/2...o-youtube.html

Well you didn't have to come in here to tell your meaningless opinion. This thread is obviously for those who care.

I am impressed by the Toystory trailer as demonstration of 1080p and it makes sense considering the big monitors getting sold.

But it seems to be a financial suicide run.

tbh Youtube and Megavideo have been crawling for me for almost a year,
speeds been going downwards dramatically, so i can´t see myself using this option. (and i´ve got 16Mbit download and achieve fullspeed almost always on servers that allow it, my ping is pretty much always below 30)

Tried the 1080p video and it loaded instantly and played great, was using 30% of my Q6600 @ 3ghz spread over 4 cores.

Once again UT speaks the truth.

Also for me even the regular youtube videos can be ass slow, I don't think I want to wait around for 1080p ones.

Same here, it runs like absolute crap...videos take forever to load. They need to get some better servers

Worked great for me as well.

I will say YouTube is sporadic for me sometimes. I've watched high quality videos that played fine and then went on to something of lower quality that chugged a long. Is there some kind of priority for some videos over others? Or is it just random?

It all just depends which server you are hitting, where, and the load it is encountering. Only on a few occasions have my videos not played instantly and without any skipping. [thumbup]

Most of the time any videos from the lowest to the HD ones will load instantly then you get the odd one that may take forever to download or won't work at all.

Just a random problem that happens sometimes, not surprising considering all the films they have and the amount they are viewed daily.

I usually click on a bunch at the same time, one'll always be watchable and the others simply load while I'm watching the fast one.

If only youtube videos were multithreaded. My AMD 6000+ X2 uses 100% of one of its cores, and the video playback is jerky. Even better, youtube should use hardware GPU accelerated video.

They could be played thru a dvd or blueray and upscaled to 1080p
