Default Can the cable co really throttle your internet if you live in a multi-unit apartment?
Time Warner sells varying speeds of internet service but I live in a 12-story apartment building that has a couple hundred units. It is one big square building. I don't know a lot about IT infrastructure, but how could Time Warner sell various speeds of internet to residents in a building like this? How could they moderate the bandwith of my unit's internet over the bandwith of my neighbor's internet? How would they be able to tell whose is whose? Or does all the data from the building likely just go out of one large data line?
