I was supprised how good the opening ceremony actually was. Loved the Mr Bean and Bond bits. My only real criticism is they missed out on a lot of key moments in English history at the beginning (ending slavery, magna carta etc) and Seb Cole did go on a bit, but otherwise very good.

At least Seb Coe kept it short...

Overall better than i'd dare imagine it might be. Some humerus moments with the highlight's been the forged rings and torch at the end.

My criticisms would be the slightly draw-out tribute to the NHS and some bits from history missing.

No point including the bits the rest of the world knows about already...the opening ceremony is our showreel, it's not designed for our use as much as the rest of the world.

I'm not sure the rest of the world does know anything. I think the logistics of changing the scene every 5 minutes wouldn't have been possible, so I think what they went with was good enough.

You think nobody knows that we abolished slavery?

I suspect we were shown the parts of history relating to people coming together.

NBC are getting slammed for their coverage of the event. Amongst other things they cut out the tribute to the 7/7 victims. Disgraceful.

That scene with Daniel Craig and the Queen was brutal. The slow motion effect was terrible. Overall it felt like all the other opening ceremonies, it was good, but nothing extraordinary.

Just as disgraceful as only providing AC to the British athletes while all the others are stuck with nothing. That's a scummy move.

Scummy move maybe, but hardly disgraceful.

I doubt it was intentionally scummy. I know how us Brits work, and the contractor probably over-promised on deliverables and then we realised that we couldn't get it all done in time. Standard for us really.

I don't know anything about that, but most people in the UK don't have AC either; and it's not like it usually gets that hot here.

Buy you're seriously comparing a few top atheletes in peak condition getting a bit warm to a snub against the victims of the worst terrorist attrocity our country has seen?

Trust me, a concrete tower block in London will be frigging hot without AC.

It's not about the heat during the day so much as the heat and humidity at night.

And how many people living in tower blocks have AC? That's right, none.

Open a window, like the rest of us have to.

Bungle, does your office have AC? It's all very well spouting off, but there is no reason a new build block wouldn't have AC. You're getting your black and white thinking hat on again.
