I could never drive a vehicle whose name means "ball bearing".

Hey, according to Wikipedia it means "I roll". Not sure if that makes it better or worse though http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/biggrin1.gif

Like 'vulva' means ball-accommodating?

ZenDers 07-26-2012 02:52 PM

I was going to suggest Volvo, actually.
They have a very nice and trendy interior, and they stick out a bit more these days. They also don't suffer from an image problem (unless driving a safe car is of concern to you).

According to wikipedia: "Volvo means "I roll" in Latin, conjugated from "volvere", in relation to ball bearing. The name Volvowas originally registered in May 1911 as a separate company within SKF AB and as a registered trademark with the intention to be used for a special series of ball bearing".

I found ball-bearing more amusing so I ignored the first part of the paragraph.

I think I'd have to get the 1.6 diesel, which doesn't have much poke.

What's the budget?

What's the budget?
£520 pcm ex vat for lease, needs to include maintenance. B2B, GAP, fully comp and early termination insurance are handled separately so the whole budget is available.

Hmmm ok, a quick look at my corporate offerings give me the
Volvo S60 Diesel Saloon D5 [215] R DESIGN 4dr Geartronic for these conditions:
3 year Monthly Cost:
£535.00
4 year Monthly Cost:
£515.00
Monthly BIK (20%):
£126.00
Monthly BIK (40%):
£252.00

I suppose that's more or less what you should get?

That's a big chunk more BIK than I'm paying, the CO2 is obviously quite a lot higher than my current (109). Are you using fleetdesk there?

artofeyyy 07-26-2012 04:41 PM

Not sure... it's the RBSelect company car scheme. Not using it myself, just showing you the conditions, really...

Thanks, they may well use fleetdesk as the software for online quoting. That's the one our provider uses and apparently it's fairly common.

More in line then:

Volvo S60 Saloon T3 [150] ES 4dr

3 year Monthly Cost:
£410.00
4 year Monthly Cost:
£399.00
Monthly BIK (20%):
£68.00
Monthly BIK (40%):
£136.00

I think a loaded S40 would be better. What cost are you getting on the top of the line diesel one? Can you choose options on yours? I'm waiting for new login details so I can go price up some myself.

flowersnewaho 07-26-2012 06:05 PM

Hmmm, not many left of that one, as it's a 2007 model. What looks like the top of the line of the little choice available is this:

Volvo S40 Diesel Saloon D3 [150] SE Lux Edition 4dr Geartronic

3 year Monthly Cost:
£471.00
4 year Monthly Cost:
£445.00
Monthly BIK (20%):
£98.00
Monthly BIK (40%):
£196.00

A colleague of mine said you can choose the options once you've picked the model you want from the list. So depending of what you'll add it'll have a small impact on the monthly price of course. Volvo's "SE Lux Edition" is preloaded with a lot of stuff already though.

I wouldn't get the S40 anymore though, it's the end of the line.

Tusethede 07-26-2012 06:23 PM

Yeah S40 is about done with. I know someone who just got one new. Decent discout but didn't get to choose options as he was just picking from stock.

I thought there was a replacement coming?

There is, with a different name. Looks more like a hatchback maybe.

Edit: Yeah, V40. Looks suspiciously like a Focus.
