Tendinitis & Arthritis
How many of you suffer from either of these ailments? What things do you do to overcome or "deal with" the pain involved? Since the Morgan Cup (about a week before), mine has acted up again and it has really started to bother me as of late. I get it in my right wrist a little bit, but the real pain is on my left hand index finger that flows down to my thumb. If you were to make a "L" with your left hand and trace the inside of it that is where the pain is.
Besides time off (not an option right now), what do you do to assist in playing through it? |
I know someone the uses a pool ball and opens his hand up and rolls in on a mousepad in circles with his palm. He says it helps.

Aleve and ice. I have problems with my left elbow, my right to a lesser extent, plantar fascia problems with my right heel, and arthritis in both thumb "pads". I take two Aleve before I play and ice the left elbow when needed and my hands on occasion. I do some stretches for the heel and elbow. The arthritis is what it is. I'm not starting prescription meds at this point. Screw it.

I agree Aleve and as my old baseball coach used to say. HEY YOU GOT TO BE TOUGH!!!!!

I have had the almost the same JB, it sucks. I take Advil gels and that works most times. I am so interested in this thread as my wrist and ring finger get painful. Thank goodness it's not carpal tunnel
|
Meloxicam for the really rough times and have started to go to a therapist that uses electrostatic massage therapy for my shoulder. Over the counter meds don't do much for me, but take them before and after along with some ice. Need to drink more water on a daily basis, very dehydrated in general.

Seven years ago I had surgery for a non union scaphoid in my right hand. Bone & vascular graft from the same wrist. Two years later arthritis flared up big time in that wrist and my doctor prescribed a mega dose pack of some kind of steroid. It cleared up the pain within a few days. Now I stretch my wrists daily and ice and aleve as necessary.

I get terrrrribbbble tendonitis/tennis elbow from tennis. I have to take ibuprofeun before I play no matter what. I have a brace that eliminates tennis elbow but does nothing for the tendonitis i get in my forearm.
|
I have to take Meloxicam for a bone spur pressing against a nerve on my spine, since starting to take this I rarely take anything else for arthritis. When I take anything else it is Advil.
|
I take low-dose Aspirin daily, and my doctor has told me I can take Tylenol (helps a bit), Motrin/Advil (doesn't do much for muscle aches for me, works a treat on headaches), or Aleve (works pretty well for aches) occasionally, but apparently taking these over a period of time will mess with the protective effects of the Aspirin. Actual arthritis pains, my family all swear by Aleve.

Find an "MAT" trainer (muscle activation). You know what my wife does JB. It works. Go to muscleactivation.com and find a trainer near you for all your aches and pains.

I fight tendinitis in the left elbow. I've had a tough bout the past two months. In fact, at the DFW THP event I could barely swing the club. I've taken the past three weeks off and it feels much better, in fact I have very little discomfort except for the mornings. Here's what I do:
3 visits to the chiropractor where he spends about 20 minutes working his magic. Then his therapist spends about 20 minutes doing a deep muscle massage. 2 Alleve, twice per day. One of those Ace bandages wrapped around the arm, just below the elbow. I also use this to hold a bag of ice in place for about one per night. It all seems to work but it is a PIA. I wasn't a fan of chiropractors before this last bout, but the Doc I found really does work wonders. I'll be hitting the course this upcoming weekend, will let you know how it goes. |
Arthritis... My dr told me to not stop moving... Tendinitis, heat and stretching... Good luck!
|
I currently have tendinitis on the back of my left hand where the three ligaments meet almost near the wrist. So it makes it hard to grip the club with the left hand. Doc says to use heat compresses and then ice and heat again. Seems to be working.

I have diagnosed rumatoid arthritis and i take two drugs as needed tramadol for pain (non narcotic) and etodolac for inflammation reduction.
You may not be a big pill guy but it really works. I also get a cortisone shot every 3 months |

I deal with this as well in both of my wrists but predominately my right one. The only thing that fixes it after it flares up is either Cortisone which I avoid at all costs or steroids in a pill form which take a little longer to work. Due to my job rest is not an option. Sometimes its so excruciating it keeps me from sleeping.
I've been to the orthopod about 3 times for each wrist and he says there is nothing he can do. C'est la vie I guess. |
I fight tendonitis in my left hand in my thumb from time to time. When it flairs, I take 2 Aleve before the round and my doc gave me a script for this topical anti-inflammatory called Pensaid.
The Pensaid really works! |
