My old boss was this way and I needed to be careful how I told him at times. He was "just trying to help" he would say.

I know people who are like this. They are few and far between. You just got to stay in a positive mindset and focus.

I am a naturally chatty person but on the course I don't talk when someone is playing their shot nor do I offer advice, I actually try to reel in the conversation at times so as not to be irritating to other folks. I don't want anyone talking while I am hitting and I certainly do want anyone offering unsolicited advice.

A little talk does not bother me. It is golf, not brain surgery.

Thats when you fake sick and go home. Ask for a rain check or something.

Is that a record for smilies in a post?

Yeah my biggest pet peeve on the course is somebody who gives out swing advice, regardless if it's asked for. I get snippy when that starts to happen. I usually try not to get mean, I will be spend the next few hours with the person.

I don't mind talking as long as it's not needlessly slowing down play or occuring while I'm hitting, or preparing to hit, the ball.

I agree Hawk. I like conversation walking up to the green or waiting on the tee box, but a big no no when someone is about to take a shot.

A little chatting is nice especially when you get paired up with someone who is kinda cool. Not talking the entire round can be kind of awkward i think.

I like talking during a round, but someone that can't be quite during crucial shots is not cool! I actually don't mind mindless chit-chat because it takes my mind off the round and lets me just go through the motions. This helps.

Nope, I think Ole Gray has that record!

Worst I ever had was a guy who read all of my putts for me! I've never had to put up with chatterboxes.

I can deal with the talkers but i've never run into a person willing to try and help me. But I can understand your frustration talking while mid swing could bother me, although it's never been done around me

I can't stand talkers. I enjoy small chat just as much as the next guy. Back up on the tee box on a par 3? That's a perfect time to start up some small chat.
What drives me crzy is the guy who tees off first, walks back to the cart while the second guy is hitting and starts chatting away. First off you should be watching the shot just in case it goes awry. Second it doesn't matter if your 15 away and behind a bush, we can still hear you!!

It is enough to drive me crazy. Be quiet, be still, and be ready. 3 very important things IMO.

If I'm paired with a talker I try to walk to my ball as much as possible so I can maintain focus, on second shots after putting my club back in the bag,
I grab my pu tter and wedge if needed and walk to the green. I avoid being rude so it doesn't add tension to my game or the other players, plus I love to walk.

If walking a round I will converse while walking down the fairway and I NEVER offer or accept advice on the course. worry about your own mess before trying to create one for me.

I love on course discussion, except when people are preparing to hit. I've been known to ask people to take their discussion to another part of the hole if it gets repetitive enough.

On the one hand, I should be able to tune it out, but on the other, I'm paying good money to enjoy golf the way I believe it should be enjoyed, and not talking while someone else is hitting is one thing I believe should be an absolute.

Yeah, I hear that!

Had a guy just last week who was not only a talker but a doer as well.

I'm waiting for a par 5 green to clear and I'm in a position to get there in two.
HE hit his tee shot way left and has been hacking his way up the hole for at least three shots.
His last shot finished ahead of mine (but still in the junk) so I get set to hit my shot.
IN THE MIDDLE OF MY BACKSWING he hits his ball and pops it out into the fairway and starts jabbering about how it's about time and yadda, yadda, yadda, while I skull my 4-iron.

I wanted to wring his neck!
