Where should I play in Myrtle Beach?!
 

A group of friends and I are taking a trip to Myrtle Beach in July. We are looking to be there 3 days and 2 nights and would like to play 4 to 5 times. Any suggestions for where to play and stay? Thanks!

I really liked Prestwick last fall. I did not like Avocet, the greens were toasted! TPC gets big praise from my family & friends down there.

Dunes Golf and Beach Club is my favorite in Myrtle Beach (not to be confused with Grande Dunes).

Ive played Prestwick twice and havent been disappointed one bit!

I'm playing both of those in August, as well as Tidewater and International World Tour.

This is like asking what to eat at a Las Vegas buffett. There's so many good courses in the area. I suggest going a little south and staying and playing at True Blue and Caledonia.

Another vote for Caledonia. It is the must play course in the Myrtle Beach area. I've always been a fan of Stranz designs and Caledonia is one of his best. If you are ever in the Charleston area another Stranz masterpiece worth checking out is Bulls Bay Golf Club, its one of the best courses on the east coast.

+1 You should really be looking for a package that will let you play a few different courses included in the deal. They are available all over the place, and usually include some pretty nice courses too. You should check out Legends. You can stay there, and they have 5 courses on site.

+1 Million, over 100 courses in the area and probably 75%+ of them are awesome courses. Where you play should be affected by where you stay, IMO. You don't want to stay in North Myrtle and play courses in South Myrtle as it can be a 30-40 minute drive to the course and with the variety of courses real not a wise choice unless there is a "have to play there" course in mind. Some of my favorites in N. Myrtle are Thistle, Heather Glenn and River Hills(more affordable option). Course to avoid.... WICKED STICK, we "had" to play there and I was extremely disappointed with the course.

Another vote for Caledonia, very nice track for sure and the staff is great. There's so many courses to choose from its crazy. The witch is another favorite of mine.

Caledonia is one of the few places I havent played, but have heard great things about it.

Also a fan of Litchfield Plantation down in Pawley's Island if you are near there

We played Caledonia a few years ago and absolutley loved it . Didn't get a chance to try True Blue but heard vbery good thingds about it

Wherever you do play, give us an update. I am supposed to play there in late September.

I am going down next monday eve and always stay in N. Myrtle. One of my favorites there is Heather Glen. But there are a ton of courses to choose from.

My brother owns a condo in Little River, extreme North Myrtle. I've only played down there once. We don't get there often as neither the wife nor I are beach people.

If you're willing to drive a little bit, two of my favourite courses around there are Carolina National (a bit north of Myrtle, Fred Couples signature course) and Rivers Edge (Arnold Palmer course). They are two of my favourite courses with some truly impressive holes.

Most every course that has been mentioned is excellent. But one that is about 20 mins north of Myrtle that we are playing again this year is Cape Fear National. I enjoyed that course as much as any course I have played in a good while. It is in North Carolina but alot of the better courses down there are in far North Myrtle or lower North Carolina anymore.

Ive played Rivers Edge and agree thats a good one too!

How many did you lose into the marsh? Some of those holes were ridiculously awesome with the greens built out into the marshland!
