Assalam alaikum wa rahmat Allah
Alhamdulillah, here is the 5th discussion on tawakul by Blessed imam Gazali RahamAt Allah, Jazak Allah khair for reading. "Some hearts are such that having wealth keeps him busy with dunya if that kind of person was darwish it is better for him" imam gazali " you should know that being sad and worried is a habit for many people neverthless sadness and worry is distructive to your state of tawakku. Allah SWT has forbidden sadness." Imam Gazali Tawakul of a person who is head of a family. Blessed imam explains that a person that is responsible to wife and children does not need to seclude himaself or leave his proffession and job in order to progress in the spritual state of tawakul. Imam stress that one can not put his wife and children in difficulty becaushe wants to improve his state of tawakul. He is allowed to save for one year. And that was the practtice of prohet SAS. He SAS used to not save anything for himself even from moring to the evening time , but for his wives he used give provision for one year. Imam mentions that even if prophet SAS saved something for a day would not have effect to his state of tawakul since for him SAS his hand and another ones hand were the same (had perfect state of tawakul) Condition of tawakul for individuals Haqyqah of tawakul, Imam RA mentions is that one does not wish too much and does not save for future need and if he did save then he should see his saving as treasures in the hand of allah SWT and to not put his trust on it. one should be content with provision at the present moment and eat as much as to satisfy his need and dress as his present need. The purpose is to keep ones heart busy with dhikr of hagge taala. so one drowns himself in ibaddah of Allah Subahana wa tala Blessed Imam mentions 1.that any one who saves for one year would fall from spritual state of tawakul. He has put his trust in apparent means (asbab-e-zahir) rather than Allah SWT. 2. He ra farther indicates that ones nafs is like ones familly. If one does not have tolerance on hunger and becomes anxious then he should not leave his means of livelihood. on the otherhand if an ibad has perfect faith and busy with taqwah (rightous aamal) if he does not work Allah swt will provide for him like Allah swt provides for a baby in the stomach of mother.Allah swt will fill the hearts of people with love and care and compassion for that kind of ibad. Rewayah1. Sahle Tastari RA said that saving things for future needs nulifies ones tawakul. Rewayah 2. Abu talib-e-makki RA said if one does not save for more than forty days his tawakul is valid with ondition that he does not put his trust in his saving Hadith. one pious darwish died they found two dynar in his pockets prophet SAS said they will write (do dagh) fot him. meaning he will loose two degree in hearafter for that saving Hadith; one of the ashabe saffa(comannions of Saffah) RAdied prophet SAS after his death said that the sahabi's RA face will shine like a moon in hearafter; if he did not svae any cloth for winter his face would have shined like a sun. condition of tawakul in Allah and keeping away from harm I will mention some of the examples that Imam Gazali uses to explain this section 1. if motawakilb receives harm from some one he should tolerate the difficulty(no response, no complain) that is a condition of tawakul . Quran; "do not get upset when kuffar harm you and do tawakul to us"(quran 33/48 ) Also in (14/12) and we are patient with calamities hence motawakeloon rely on Allah. 2. If one takes arm to fight the enemy or locks the door of his house this does not nulifies his state of tawakul granted he does not put his trust in arms nor in the lock rather solely in Allah 3. But if the person come home and finds out that the house was rubbed by a thief, he should not be unhappy nor complain about it. he should accept the gada (predestiny) of Allah and should not even persue or search for the theif. He should know what he was given belonged to Allah, he SWT trusted him with it for a while for his benefit and took it away after a while also for his benefit. rewayah3. malik ibn dynar RA used to only tie a string to his door and never used locks . He RA said if it was not for worrying that dogs might go to my room I would not have tied anything on my door . Rewayah 4. Roghyah send a beautiful Vase to malik ibn dynar RA . he returned the gift and said shetan put waswasah in my heart that theif might take it(he did not want the he be the cause of sin for theif) Rewayah #5. ibn umar RA lost his camel. he searched for it and could not find then he said I give it away (fi sabil Allah). he was praying in the masjid. someone came and told him that we found your camel. he stood up then he said astaghfirAllah, I gave it away fi sabilAllah I would not take it. Rewayah#6 one man was sleeping in the harameyn in makkah when he woke up he could not find bag of gold that he was carrying with himself. he started accusing an individual sitting next to him (not knowing that he is a great abid). The individual said there is no harm come to my house I give you a bag of gold and he did so. after he come back to masjid the man found out that his friends were playing a trick on him and they took his gold. when he retutrned the gold to abid he would not accept. the abid said I gave it fisbilAllah, so they distributed aqmong the poor. Rewayah 7. Rabiah Khathim RA had an expensive horse some one stole it. he said I saw when they were taking my horse when i was doing my salat. people asked why you did not make noise he said I loved my salat more than my horse.then some people started cursing(laanah) the theif Khathim Ra said please don't curse him I made it halal to him and gave as sadagah Rewayah 8. Eisa AS said anyone who is not happy in sickness and calamity he is void of ILM(sacred knowledge) Rewayah 9. It is said that moomin is never free of three things poverty, sickness and humiliation Rwayah 10. it has been said that iblis from ayaub AS only got some pain murmor(naleh). (n0 complain, or sadness) Rewayah 11. Fodail Ayadh when he was sick he used to close the door of the house. People complained that we like to visit you. He RA said I worry that while talking I might complain about sickness. |
