Russian warships have entered Syrian territorial waters in an aggressive move designed to prevent any NATO-led attack on the country under the guise of a “humanitarian intervention”.

“Russian warships are due to arrive at Syrian territorial waters, a Syrian news agency said on Thursday, indicating that the move represented a clear message to the West that Moscow would resist any foreign intervention in the country’s civil unrest,” reports Haaretz.

Russia has stepped up efforts to defend Syria in recent days, with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov keen to frame the violence in the country as a civil war in defiance of claims by western powers that President Bashar al-Assad has overseen a bloody crackdown on innocent protesters.

As we saw prior to the attack on Libya, which was also framed as a “humanitarian intervention,” NATO powers are keen to demonize Assad’s government by characterizing attacks by his forces as atrocities while largely ignoring similar attacks by opposition forces, such as this week’s raid on a Syrian air force intelligence complex that killed or wounded 20 security police.

U.S. State Department spokesman Mark Toner rejects Russia’s claim that Syria is in a civil war, stating, “We believe it’s very much the Assad regime carrying out a campaign of violence, intimidation, and repression against innocent protesters.”

Of course, we heard similar rhetoric even as NATO-backed Al-Qaeda rebels were commandeerng fighter jets and firing rocket-propelled grenades in Libya, actions also undertaken by “innocent protesters,” we were told at the time.

As we have

previously reported, despite overwhelming speculation that Iran will be the next target of a military assault, Syria is the likeliest target for the next salvo of NATO-backed regime change.

US President Barack Obama got the ball rolling back in August when he called on President al-Assad to step down. The UN has already withdrawn all non-essential staff from the country.

Without Russia’s help, Syria would be largely defenseless against a NATO attack. “I don’t see any purely military problems. Syria has no defence against Western systems … [But] it would be more risky than Libya. It would be a heavy military operation,” former French air force chief Jean Rannou commented.

Given that the western press has proven adept at manufacturing lies to justify military interventions, whether the actions of Assad’s regime represent genuine atrocities or legitimate conduct in the midst of a civil war remains unclear. Some have claimed the abuses are being embellished, while both former CIA agent Robert Baer and ex-MI6 officer Alastair Crooke point out that the Syrian people definitely want change, but not in the form of a NATO “humanitarian” assault.

We can see how the power elite advances from country to country on its way to building an Islamic Crescent that will serve as a foil to further inflame phony Western wars of terror. We've written about this numerous times before.

The power elite that really controls the US army is intent on expanding its control over the Middle East and Africa. These wars allow them to extend control while creating a phony enemy. The elite (using NATO) bombed Libya back to the "stone age" using the justification that Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was a threat to his own people. But ultimately, thanks to a war that wasn't a war (but a peacekeeping action) tens of thousands of Libyans perished.

The putative rationale for the elites' abilities to enter any country it likes has to do with the 2005 abrogation of the Treaty of Westphalia. It was the UN's approval of R2P, the "Responsibility to Protect" doctrine, that ended the Westphalia Treaty and ushered in this current age of aggressive "deterrence."

The idea is that states have a primary role to play in shielding their populations from genocide. If the state abdicates this role, the "international community" should provide additional resources from mediation to political structures. Finally, if genocide is still threatened, the larger community must use diplomatic and even military action to ensure that civilians are safe.

No state is safe anymore except the ones that obey Anglosphere dictates. That's one reason the death of Gaddafi was shown in such detail. It was a warning. Syria is on notice, and as this video shows, it is already being destabilized. Here's the description of this video that originally appeared over at Euronews:

Syrian army defectors have launched their first attack in the eight-month uprising against President Bashar al Assad. It is said they have struck a major security facility. The news comes after more than 70 people were killed in yet more clashes between Syrian security forces and protesters. Meanwhile Turkey has increased its pressure on the Assad regime with talk of cutting power supplies. Once keen to cultivate ties with President Assad, Turkey's leadership now opposes his crackdown on dissent.

And here is a comment from a viewer in the YouTube thread: "Army defectors? HAHA ! Those are just foreign mercenaries who are based at Syria's borders who now pretend they are Syrians and Army defectors ! Don't believe this Euronews bull!"

Could We Actually See A War Between Syria And Turkey?

In a recent editorial entitled “There Is No Going Back in Syria“, Clinton wrote the following….

Finally, the answer to the most important question of all — what does this mean for Syria’s future? — is increasingly clear: There is no going back.

Syrians have recognized the violence as a sign of weakness from a regime that rules by coercion, not consent. They have overcome their fears and have shaken the foundations of this authoritarian system.

Syria is headed toward a new political order — and the Syrian people should be the ones to shape it. They should insist on accountability, but resist any temptation to exact revenge or reprisals that might split the country, and instead join together to build a democratic, peaceful and tolerant Syria.

Considering the answers to all these questions, the United States chooses to stand with the Syrian people and their universal rights. We condemn the Assad regime’s disregard for the will of its citizens and Iran’s insidious interference.

“There is no going back”?

“Syria is headed toward a new political order”?

It almost sounds like they are already planning the transitional government.

The EU has been using some tough language as well.

A recent EU summit in Brussels issued a statement that declared that the EU “condemns in the strongest possible terms the ongoing repression and unacceptable and shocking violence the Syrian regime continues to apply against its own citizens. By choosing a path of repression instead of fulfilling its own promises on broad reforms, the regime is calling its legitimacy into question. Those responsible for crimes and violence against civilians shall be held accountable.”

If you take the word “Syrian” out of that statement and replace it with the word “Libyan” it would sound exactly like what they were saying about Gadhafi just a few months ago.

Placard-Waving Protesters are actually Machine Gun-Wielding Terrorists.
by Tony Cartalucci

November 15, 2011 - The "Free Syria Army" is literally an army of militant extremists, many drawn not from Syria's military ranks, but from the Muslim Brotherhood, carrying heavy weapons back and forth over the Turkish and Lebanese borders, funded, supported, and armed by the United States, Israel, and Turkey. The latest evidence confirming this comes in the form of a report out of the International Institute for Strategic Studies where Senior Fellow for Regional Security at IISS-Middle East Emile Hokayem openly admits Syria's opposition is armed and prepared to drag Syria's violence into even bloodier depths.

This report comes in sharp contrast to the propaganda fed via the corporate-media and the West's foreign ministers on a daily basis, where the violence is portrayed as one-sided, with Syria's President Bashar al-Assad "gunning down" throngs of peaceful, placard waving protesters. Just as in Libya where these so-called "peaceful protesters" turned out to be hordes of genocidal racist Al Qaeda mercenaries, led by big-oil representatives, fighting their cause upon a verified pack of lies, so too is Syria's "pro-democracy" movement which is slowly being revealed as yet another militant brand of extremists long cultivated by Anglo-American intelligence agencies, whose leadership is harbored in London and Washington and their foot soldiers supplied a steady stream of covert military support and overt rhetorical support throughout the compromised corporate media.

The unrest in Syria from the beginning was entirely backed by Western corporate-financier interests and part of a long-planned agenda for region-wide regime change. Syria has been slated for regime change since as early as 1991. In 2002, then US Under Secretary of State John Bolton added Syria to the growing "Axis of Evil." It would be later revealed that Bolton's threats against Syria manifested themselves as covert funding and support for opposition groups inside of Syria spanning both the Bush and Obama administrations.

In an April 2011 CNN article, acting State Department spokesman Mark Toner stated, "We're not working to undermine that [Syrian] government. What we are trying to do in Syria, through our civil society support, is to build the kind of democratic institutions, frankly, that we're trying to do in countries around the globe. What's different, I think, in this situation is that the Syrian government perceives this kind of assistance as a threat to its control over the Syrian people."

Toner's remarks came after the Washington Post released cables indicating the US has been funding Syrian opposition groups since at least 2005 and continued until today.

In an April AFP report, Michael Posner, the assistant US Secretary of State for Human Rights and Labor, stated that the "US government has budgeted $50 million in the last two years to develop new technologies to help activists protect themselves from arrest and prosecution by authoritarian governments." The report went on to explain that the US "organized training sessions for 5,000 activists in different parts of the world. A session held in the Middle East about six weeks ago gathered activists from Tunisia, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon who returned to their countries with the aim of training their colleagues there." Posner would add, "They went back and there's a ripple effect." That ripple effect of course is the "Arab Spring," and in Syria's case, the impetus for the current unrest threatening to unhinge the nation and invite in foreign intervention.

With planted "speculation" running through the corporate media that a recent explosion, amongst several other "incidents" in Iran, were the work of Western covert operations, and the Jerusalem Post all but admitting the entire Western-backed destabilization in Syria aims not at ushering in "democracy" or upholding "human rights," but to weaken Iran by proxy, it is clear that everything within Wall Street and London's power is being done to provoke Iran. Iran has downplayed the recent explosion at their military base as an accident and has thus far maintained a persistent patience in the face of criminal provocations and overt acts of war by an alarmingly and increasingly depraved West.

It is quite clear that the stratagems spelled out in the corporate-funded Brookings Institute report "Which Path to Persia?" have been read and understood by both sides and that Iran realizes that any act of retaliation not expertly played, only gives the West what it has stated it wants - an excuse to go to war with the Islamic Republic. Should the public in Syria, Iran, and throughout the West also read "Which Path to Persia?" and realize that the only threat Iran and its allies pose to the West is toward the extraterritorial ambitions of Wall Street and London, perhaps a bloody, entirely unnecessary war can be avoided, and the first steps taken toward dismantling the parasitic corporate-financier oligarchy that has misled the world for the past several decades.

U.S. Ambassador to Syria in charge of recruiting Arab/Muslim death squads

http://www.infowars.com/arab-state-u...o-leave-syria/

#########

WMR has been informed by reliable sources that the U.S. ambassador to Syria, Robert S. Ford, is the key State Department official who has been responsible for recruiting Arab “death squads” from Al Qaeda-affiliated units in Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, and Chechnya to fight against Syrian military and police forces in embattled Syria. Ford served as the Political Officer at the U.S. embassy in Baghdad from 2004 to 2006 under Ambassador John Negroponte, the U.S. ambassador to Honduras from 1981 to 1985. Negroponte was a key figure in the covert U.S. program to arm the Nicaraguan contras and hissupport for vicious paramilitary units in El Salvador and Honduras earned him the nickname of “Mr. Death Squad.”

Negroponte tasked Ford with implementing the “El Salvador option” in Iraq, the use of Iraqi Shi’a irregulars and Kurdish Pesh Merga paramilitary forces to target for assassination and kidnapping/torture Iraqi insurgency leaders in Iraq and across the border in Syria. The operation was named for Negroponte’s death squad operation in Central America in the 1980s.

Ford has become the point man in the recruitment of Arabs and Muslims from the Middle Eastand beyond to battle against the security forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad. The U.S.-backed terrorists have not only carried out attacks on Syrian security forces but have also massacred civilians in “false flag” operations later blamed on Syrian government forces. WMR has been informed that Ford’s operations in Syria are being carried out with the assistance of Israel’s Mossad.

The “El Salvador” option has also been used in Libya, where Al Qaeda irregulars, drawn from Iraq, Afghanistan, and Yemen, have been carrying out murders of Libyan civilians, especially black Libyans and African guest workers, on behalf of the Libyan rebel government. Some of the murders of civilians have been blamed on pro-Muammar Qaddafi forces but they have, in fact, been carried out by Al Qaeda units fighting with the rebels and which are being directed by CIA and MI-6 advisers. Ford has been providing advice to the Libyan rebels on how to carry out their death squad attacks.

Salam

I know that there already is a port in Syria where Russia keeps its ships so it won't allow foreign military intervention in syria for this reason.

Western countries are doing everything possible to disrupt civil peace in Syria, denounced the writer and American journalist, Webster Tarpley (Vermelho,. Voltaire) in Damascus, the Syrian capital to TV RT (Russia Today). According to him, Syrian civilians have to deal daily with death squads and blind terrorism, which is typical of covert actions of sabotage and destabilization used by the CIA.

The U.S. ambassador to Syria, Robert S. Ford (left) is, according to reliable sources, the key official of the U.S. State Department which has been responsible for the recruitment of Arab terrorists to create “death squads,” usually with activists from Al-Qaeda (the funded organization of the CIA) for these same units as in Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen and Chechnya, to fight now against the Syrian army and police in Syria and to create a civil war in this country

“How does the average Syrian national of all ethnic groups know what is happening?”

People complain that there are terrorist snipers shooting at people. It is blind terrorism, simply for the purpose of destabilizing the country to make the various ethnic groups confront each other. I would not call it civil war – which is a term that deceives and we are mistaken in using it in referring to what is happening today in Syria.

What is happening here is that civilians are being targeted by professional death squads. It comes to a question of terrorist commandos, a typical method used by the CIA. No one knows how they appeared. “In this case, it is a secret and planned joint action by the CIA, MI6 and Mossad, financed with money from Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar,” said Webster.

Professor Webster notes that Syrian society is the most tolerant society in the Middle East, the only place where all kinds of people and ethnic groups can live together in a remarkable harmony, Muslims and Christians of all types.

“Syria is a model of peaceful co-existence between different ethnic groups.” The policy of the United States seeks to attack this point precisely to disrupt and create chaos in the Middle East and this is essential to attack ethnic lines, so that they face each other in a fratricidal war,” he added.

The laws imposed by Syrian President Assad and his performance as a ruler are increasingly called upon and considered illegitimate by the west.

“After the NATO ‘humanitarian help’ to Libya, which was really a bloodbath, with 150,000 dead and now with Egypt, people are just now only realizing what it was from the beginning – there was no revolution there at all – it was a failure, and now people are beginning to understand this mistake.”

Mrs. Clinton and Ms. Rice continue to encourage and promote this model of revolts, called color revolutions. But this time they are using the support of terrorist troops, mercenaries, fundamentalists, the people of Al-Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood.”

“There is an ever growing movement inside society that says: ‘We want reconciliation, we want law and order, and we especially want legality,’” Professor Webster Tarpley points out.

Arab League in Syria: A pre-ordained conclusion

#########################
http://landdestroyer.blogspot.com/20...-ordained.html

The Syrian government has released 755 detainees as Arab League monitors continue their mission to stop nine months of violence that has killed thousands. However, doubts remain on both sides that the observers can provide a neutral verdict.

*The release of the detainees Wednesday follows the three-pronged Arab League plan that will see Damascus withdrawal government troops from residential areas, release prisoners and begin talks with the opposition.

While he argues that the monitoring mission could potentially be effective, he fears efforts to put off a potentially catastrophic war will likely be disregarded.

“It [the monitoring mission] could actually avert military intervention if they do come out and say that the tensions are internal and need to be dealt with internally, but I don’t think that is what is ultimately going to be concluded, but we certainly have to hope that that is the case, because as we know, military intervention in Syria would be an extremely destabilizing event in the region, and would lead almost inevitably to some sort of confrontation with Iran, if not eventually with other states in the region. So I think it is absolutely imperative that this mission does indeed defuse the situation, though I’m not hopeful for that possibility.”

While Corbett argues the international community’s decision to dictate how Syria should manage their internal affairs is as ludicrous as Damascus telling the Obama administration how to deal with the Occupy Wall Street protests, he fear that the observer mission will ultimately serve as the first step to justifying outside military intervention in the country.

“This is all just political theater that is being played out for the benefit of the public that is obviously unwilling to go along with military intervention unless there is the degree of some sort of body that’s seen to – or at least we’re told – have some sort of moral authority to pronounce on the subject,” he added.
