Assalaamu'alaikum, I dont know of any articles... But from what I've read and heard through different lectures, there are basically four characteristics of a tariqa of which each one will contain at least two of the characteristics. 2 Concerning the Goal and 2 concerning its methodology. Ihsan is of two catogories. 1- to worship Allah as though He see you (low path) 2. to worship Allah as though you see him (high path) Methodology 1- Ishraq - rigorous methods (such as extreme fasting, prayers) 2- shuruk - relies on the grace of Allah to take the traveler from one state to the next. Also.... Its education: 1- Knowledge base (meaning alot of books are read to the students) 2- Emulation based (meaning by imitating the shaykh one attains what he has attain - not much reading of sufi books) Similarities: The goal of Ihsan Methodology of following one of the four madhabs of fiqh and one of the two schools of aqidah. I hope that helps... And Allah knows best... |

![]() Don't know any article/website etc but looking at tasawwuf academically can be very confusing and I think the truth is we won't truly appreciate the differences until much later. Tasawwuf is a path to be experienced (haal). If you have access to a Shaykh that is firm on Sunnah and Shariah and you have a good level of munasabah, then you should simply dedicate yourself to them. ![]() |
