Are cash back offers a form of interest? What I mean is that you pay for the items you buy using a credit card and the credit card company "rewards" you with a percentage of the money spent. So if your annual credit card bill is $10,000 and if you have paid it off, your credit card company gives you 1% of the money as "cash back"...would this be considered interest? You get similar cash back offers on eBay and Paypal, where you get a certain percent of the money you spent back as a "reward"... |

- First of all credit card is itself used by a consumer to buy on credit, so when consumer pays back there is a possibility of consumer paying interest not the bank. - If the consumer is prompt in paying back the credit, he is saved from paying interest which makes the bank appreciate him as a customer. - The bank makes it possible for the sellers to accept consumers with credit card, thus enables some business for the sellers. - The seller pay some amount as fees to the bank for enabling services and getting consumers. - The bank may give some cash back to the consumer, based on the conditions of the product. This is the whole picture behind the scenes, so the cash back is not interest. This is derived from a mufti's talk who specialized on banking.
