AsalaamuAlaikum, ![]() 1.Reciting Suratul Waqia every night. 2.Reciting the following Dua: اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكْ "O Allah, save me from haraam and make the halaal sufficient and by your boon/favour make me independent from others". (Mishkat) These words were spoken by Ali (R.A.) taught by Prophet Mohammad (SAW.) when a person expressed a shortfall in his wealth to Ali (R.A.) he said: "Shall I not show you what Prophet Mohammad (SAW) taught me, even if there is a debt equal to that of a huge mountain then Allah will pay it". Ali (R.A.) then recited the above dua. (Tirmidhi) |

AsalaamuAlaikum, Bhai sahab, I love you for asking this question and I can feel the sincere intention behind what you are trying to accomplish. Insha'Allah you will have success in this. This is the primary steps in the field of tasawwuf itself - paying back debts. I was going to write a blog on this. Paying back debts is just another means of saving money. Most smart financial planners will advise clients who come across lump sum of money to pay back their debts first. I have a few ideas: 1 - Of course utilize dua, this is the first thing. Daily make the dua for debt, you can find this dua in most common dua books such as Munajaat e Maqbool of Moulana Thanvi (ra). 2 - Write down in priority all of your debts, total them at the bottom 3 - Then write a letter to each person/company you owe money to and just say "I owe you such and such money, I have every intention to pay it back, but currently I am having a very hard time with finances, please forgive me. Can we work out some sort of payment plan that I can afford to pay you monthly?" Never get involved with these debt consolidation companies, they keep 90% and pay only 10% towards your debt. Its best to contact the people you owe money to and deal with them on your own and work out a reasonable payment plan that fits your budget. Try to work out a payment plan that you can fit into your expenses, even if it is just $5/month you are paying off. Believe me, every penny that you put into clearing debt helps you tremendously. So even if it is just $5/month, stick to it and start paying off. Dont hide from people you owe money to. It is better to face them and say "I am sorry" than hiding from them. 4 - From the money you make set aside the total debt payment immediately. Suppose after making the payment plan your total is $100/month. So when you get paid immediately set aside $100 and work with what you got left. That $100 is going to go into paying off your debt. Any situation where you are paying off debt is a good situation, debt collecting and sitting around is not a good situation. Having no debt is of course the perfect situation. 5 - Cut down on your "wants". Do you really need a $150 phone plan? Do you really need to eat out every week? (You cant trust the food 100% anyways) Try to cut your expenses down so you can add more towards paying debt off. |
