Default Direction of the Gaze in Salah
salamu alaikum wr wb,

When sitting(tashahud and between sujoods), where should the gaze be directed? Should it be directed at your lap? or at the place in front of you? or..?

Jazakallah khair

I was taught to look at the place where one places the head on Sujood.

The glance should be towards the place of sajdah when standing, the top of one's feet while in ruku', the tip of one's nose while in sujood, the lap while sitting, and each shoulder when making the closing salaams.

From the aadaab of salaah in Maraaqi 'l-Sa'aadaat (Ascent to Felicity)
