Mashallah, a great SHeikh. Hes based in Birmingham now, after he was expelled from Syria He is in Birmingham? Really? Alhamdulillah that is fantastic, glad to have such a scholar here. Out of interest, why was he expelled from Syria? ~ On another note, seeing his name reminded me of something he said which I found peculiar. As some may know he is a descendant of the Prophet SAW and he gave a talk on loving the Prophet SAW and the importance of sending durood and salutations on him etc. But the peculiar thing he said was that one of Allah SWT mercy on the Prophet SAW was that he purified the family of the Prophet SAW. This is in regards to the aayah of ahl-ul-bayt being purified in the Quraan. Now Sheikh Ya'qoubi said this meant that all the direct descendants of the Prophet SAW would be forgiven on the day of judgement all their sins due to them being of his family and through his intercession. He said that if a direct descendant is found sinning, then he should be advised, and he should be punished in this world for any crimes he commits just like any normal man, but even if he is a sinner due to his being a descendant he will be forgiven on the day of judgement. I find this peculiar since that means you have a ticket to forgiveness no matter what you do, on account of being interceded for by the Prophet SAW. Maybe I interpreted this wrongly but it seemed clear, if people know what I'm talking about I would appreciate some clarification. For those who are interested the talk was called Yearning for the Beloved it is just under one hour long you should find it on the net. Any help would be appreciated. و عليكم السلام |
