There is an authentic Hadith where Rasulallah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam tells us to take care of our Hair and oil it.
Which oil did Rasulallah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam use, how did he apply it, for how long etc?

Hazrat Sayyed Al-Ansari narrates that the Prophet (saws) said “Eat the olive oil and massage it over your bodies since it is a holy (mubarak) tree.” (Tirmidhi, Ibn Maja)

Anas bin Malik (ra) reports:

"Sayyidina Rasulullah (saas) often rubbed oil in his head..." (Tirmidhi)

Simak bin Harb (ra) reports:

"Jaabir bin Samurah (ra) was asked a question regarding the white hair of Rasulullah He replied: 'When Rasulullah (saas) oiled his hair, it (white hair) did not show. When he did not oil it, it showed'."(Tirmidhi)

(note: none of these specifically mention olive oil being used)
