He was spectacular. Have you listened to the Hafith from Niger though?

Allah! Listening to them makes me feel like my heart is in the skies!

http://www.youtube.com/user/Abdullah.../8/s7yx3aqGgSI

Starts from 5:50

Even one of the judges couldn't hold back the sakinah effect and had to close his eyes while listening.

It's kinda unbelievable that he didn't make any of the top ten.

Even if he didn't a win place within the top ten, by the grace of Allah, he won a place inside people's hearts.

Allah raises in rank many by the means of this Qur'an...

Assalamu Alaikum,I saw the whole competition on the Internet, The competition was good MashaAllah and each and everyone read really beautifully. The judges were judging on the whole recitation, Tajweed, and memorization. I was more surprised that the BanglaDeshi boy and the Malaysian boy did not make the top Ten. Most of the recitations are on YouTube if someone want to listen, check it out and post if you agree with me. Anyways, QaddarAllahu Wa Ma'Ashaa Afaltu.

MashaAllah all the children who read have made their places in everyones hearts. May Allah preserve the Qur'aan in their hearts and give them the tawfeeq to understand it and practice it in their lives, ameen.

Salaams.

It seems like they considered no one, who didn't sound like a copy of the well-known Imams. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed some of the above recitors. The boy from Sri Lanka should be at the first place, just because of his Sunnah attire already.

Btw. The Pakistani beat the Indian! The latter had a quite strong 'Raa'. lol

Also note-worthy:

The list of top ten included, for the first time in the award’s 15-year history, two competitors with vision impairment. “They are Qatari Abdulla Hamad Abu-Sharida, who came second, and Turkish Ahmet Sarikaya who seized the third position,” he said.

Yes, but it has become a strange trend to make your small children popular Qaris. May Allah ta'ala grant us all sincerity.
