Yes, it is on my heal/back of foot (not the bottom.) I think you may be right, that these shoes are too small (hey, but they were on sale at the outlet mall!!) I've been thinking I need to get a pair to dedicate to this activity anyway.

I will look for the coolmax socks...I do need them in a size 13 though--so might have to resort to the running store. Target/Wallmart socks only run up to a 12...and those are usually too small.

Thanks for your suggestions.

It could be several things:

It could be that your shoes too small - especially if the blister is on the back of the foot vs. the bottom. My running shoes are anywhere from 1/2 to 1 1/2 sizes larger than my regular shoes. If they are a little small, then maybe you can try thinner socks.

It could be the insole. You can buy a softer insole. Some require you to actually remove the one that comes in the shoe and replace it. I use a brand called Soft Sol (I think).

It could be your socks. Cotton socks are actually the worst and always give me blisters. They were fine until I started going farther distances. Look for socks that say CoolMax. Running stores have expensive ones, but you can get normally priced ones at Walmart, Target, etc. I know Gold Toe makes them with Coolmax. They may also say DriFit, or something similar.

Default Blisters...HELP
Ok, I managed to get a nice big blister on my heal while walking in a new pair of sneakers...

I let it heal up...and have been walking since...THe past 3 consecutive days I have gone and today...yup...really tore up my heal. (All the nice new soft flesh that was under the old blister...and it HURTS.)

So, all you runners and others who may have some suggestions: What can I put on this to keep this from happening again? (Today I wore old socks...other days were in new socks and didn't have the problem.) THis is going to take a week to heal, and I don't want to park my butt the whole time.

Thanks
