Default No salt added tomatoe sauce. Please, what is the limit for this in P2?
Hi,
I am loving having *chili* with 96% ground beef, the tomatoe sauce and seasonings...with a little water added. It is so yummy but I should find out how much tomatoe sauce we can have.

Differering recipes show different amounts.

1/4 Cup has 20 calories and 2g natural sugar.
1g Fiber

0 on everything else.

I LIKE to make it with just under 1/2 Cup of it. I have tried a few times to use fresh tomatoes or no salt added peeled tomatoes but it does not taste anything like it....and I probably would not have it.

Strange, I always liked italian seasoning with stewed tomatoes etc. but not chili. I like added chopped tomatoe but not for the base.

Sorry, that was a lot of info for a simple question! LOL

Did you find the answer to your question? I don't use tomato sauce so I couldn't help you with that. When I make chili I use 2# burger 1/4 cup tomato paste about 1/4 c broth and around 4 cups of water with 2 small cans of diced tomatoes and lots of spices. That makes 10 servings. I dump the servings into baggies and freeze them for a quick meal later on. I just count it as 1 serving of tomatoes.

Well...I think my answer showed on the scale! LOL

I ate it twice in one day and gained 1.8 lbs! It may just be that I am (sadly) one of those who can not have hamb and tomatoe together *sniff sniff*. I will use ground chicken, however and I am sure it will be great!

Thank you for your recipe! I am going to try tomatoe paste like you do but with chicken and try it once and see how it goes.

Well...
I used ground chicken...and personally, I will NEVER do it again lol. For me, anyway I had to choke it down b/c I wanted every bite to taste more beefy chili like.

That being said, I will use chopped up chicken instead of ground next time and use chicken broth instead of water to make it more juicy. Now, I have always used Staggs turkey chili and love it so I *should* be able to make the chicken work. The texture was just so off for one thing compared to beef.

If you give it a try let me know what *you* thought LOL Also, I used fire roasted tomatoes instead of paste or the sauce I had...realized the sauce had *natural flavor* in it...darn. That could be MSG...you never know. Still, I lost 1.8 yesterday so it did no harm that day. I am going to try again with tomatoe paste and chopped chicken instead of ground and see how it goes. Will post that when I do

Argh..I was worried about that with the ground chicken. I love gr. beef with mustard, when I tried it with chicken it was disgusting. I found it funny because I love chicken but ground up it isn't so good

Nope, to me it is not good. lol

But I love hamburger pattie with mustard, always have. I still have ground chix b/c I bought a few pkgs uhg. I will make chicken patties with seasonings though and it is not as bad like that with stevia mustard...like honey mustard. Or, maybe I will make meatballs with it...chopped onion, celery salt, garlic powder, poultry seasoning and a melba toast and brown them...then add them to a seasoned stock and have chix meatball soup? I will not buy any more packages after these are gone, however LOL
