Ezekiel Bread

bought it at the whole foods store, cost me like $7 but will last me a while sinc ei am the only one eating it. keeping it in the freezer and using it with breakfast on p3. for the past two mornings i have eaten one slice and no gain on the scale like over the weekend of my anniversary where i gained like 4 or 5 lbs!!.

i got mine in cinnamon raisin and lke almost everything els we are changing in our diets you gotta get used to it. the textureis different but if you eat it like toast, not bad. i haven't tried it for like just a sandwich but so far so good.

Yes I love Ezekiel bread! Now that I'm in P4, I can have it but I'm traveling so it's not been a great idea to buy it. http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...lies/frown.png

since it still has wheat in it, those on P3 might still want to be careful trying it.

That's right, Margie. It's really not appropriate for P3. Wish it was!

Sorry to show my ignorance but what is Ezekiel Bread?

Arrocousa 07-05-2009 12:59 PM

It is a bread that has sprouted grains in it - thereby making it much more healthy than regular bread - it is in the refrigerated section of the health food stores as it must stay cold due to the sprouted grains.

oh . . .. . . p4? dang, i should have asked before i started eating it. well, nevertheless i didn't gain but am worried about stabilizing . . . . . .

UriyVlasov 07-05-2009 04:38 PM

Yes it's a grain, mcognibene. Doggone it. It's pretty good though.

check out this bread- it should be ok for P3, and sounds great! expensive to have shipped, though. http://www.julianbakery.com/LOW-CARB-BREAD.html

Oh it does sound good! It has gluten in it so I can't eat it but it looks nice and fluffy too. But it has grains in it so I guess it would have to wait for P4.

colleen- check out the net carbs, though- extremely low, so i think at least some people could eat it in P3. although as you said, he says "no starch", not "no carbs". darn him for not being around to answer our questions! http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...lies/smile.png

AngelinaLip 07-06-2009 02:04 AM

I really do think it's safer to follow his protocol exactly. The ones I hear on the forum who are struggling the most mess around with that net carb stuff. Carbs are carbs. Low net carbs are healthier but the resetting is SO important as you've advised us. I think that's even more important than the fast weight loss.

i agree- i think P3 is actually the most critical phase, in terms of re-setting your hypothalamus, shifting your metabolism, and making sure you don't gain it back.

other than a couple of bites of protein bars, and one low-carb tortilla, i've never had any starch at all on my P3's.

Quiniacab 07-06-2009 02:22 AM

Yes I didn't have any grains either. Gosh, I love this diet. :-) I signed up for one of the yahoo groups too but this forum is the best.

I'm a newbie, so I need some help understand the logic that disallows Ezekiel from P2, much less P3. Why would it be any worse than the Melba toast or grissini? One slice of Ezekiel seems like it would have no more wheat, starch, carbs or calories than 2 servings of Melba toast or grissini. Am I wrong?

And there are really SO many choices on P3! After making it through P2, what's a few more weeks for this critical phase?

I thought there were two queens of this forum!

I am SO SOOOO thankful to have found it!

Cyncceply 11-07-2010 08:53 PM

we really should have imported the old "queen" threads- maybe i'll go back and try to find the original decrees.

a few people have eaten limited amounts of ezekiel bread while on p2. i'm trying that this time, since i figure it's better than other options with gluten. but i looked at the calories/carbs and only eat 1/4 piece with each "meal". each piece has 80 calories, and our allowance for starch is 20 calories per meal.
