CaseyFan 12-13-2005 07:00 AM

Also, I don't know who it was originally written by but Led Zepp's cover of 'Babe I'm Gonna Leave You' is amazing. dunno about the best though.

Frannypaync 12-19-2005 07:00 AM

Vida Loca - Shuriken.
I love the cover and I am truly addicted to the song at the moment.
Other mentions have to be Marilyn Mansons - Sweet Dreams, New Found Glory - My Heart Will Go On. And there are probably a few others but I can't think of them right now.

Erossycuc 01-08-2006 07:00 AM

hmmm...
Manson used to do my favorite covers...
"Down in the Park,"
"Rock'N'Roll ******,"
"Sweet Dreams (are made of this),"
"I Put a Spell on You"
..after Scott left/got fired their covers went to shit. (well...actually most to all of their music went to shit...it atleast down-graded)

I also really dig NINails' cover of "Get Down, Make Love" and "Dead Souls"

Jack Off Jills - "Love Song"

Letters to Cleo -
"I Want You to Want Me" and
"Dangerous Type" covers are rad.

Bauhaus' cover of "Ziggy Stardust"

a few of my favorite covers right there.

My least favorite cover ever:
Johnny Cash - "Hurt" (that cover disgusts me on many levels)

Its got that ring of fire sound to it very odd but done well...Wasn't really a big fan of hurt myself to be honest he twisted the whole meaning to it which shouldn't occur.

Best Cover Song?

I know there are sooo many bad cover songs out there.. So many I wont even go into naming them. Some of them arent that bad though, every once in a while a cover song comes up thats listenable.. So QUESTION!

In your opinion who and what is the best cover song to date? imo, just because Im listening to it right now, its gotta be Soil - Black Betty.. Proper kicks ass like. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/cool.png

Westlife - Mandy http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.png

Nah but Ill go with the two Ren said, Alian ant farm,
And Limp Bizkit, as well as a guy not many of you know, but Damien Rice's version of Radiohead's creep.
& one more for now anyway,
Jeff Buckley - Halleluja , Id have to say I like this alot better than the original, sorry

Switiespils 06-02-2006 07:00 AM

I kinda like Cash's cover of "Hurt". He brings alot of feeling to it. NIN's original is good too.

Guns 'n Roses' cover of "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" is terrible... but this is about good cover songs...

Death - Painkiller

Now, that's a great cover song.

BLS - No More Tears

Love it.

White Stripes - Jolene

I fell in love with it the moment I heard it.

RicardoHun 06-11-2006 07:00 AM

Cash bringing feeling to Hurt- that's just fucking hilarious.

If feeling is forced and unnattached. But what do you expect from a puppet...someone performing a song they've never heard before. Performing a song someone else told you, you should perform. An altered version at that...because the word 'shit' from the original would have been Cash not being a puppet and denying the idea of doing the song.

Personally, I don't see how it is HUMANLY possible to make a guns 'n' roses song worse than it already is. Slash is an idiot.

KLhdfskja 07-22-2006 07:00 AM

I never knew Disturbed had covered Fade To Black.. ave to check that out.

Disturbeds cover of Walk by Pantera is cool too. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.png

Nurfzerne 07-27-2006 07:00 AM

Oooo I remembered another one.
Pantera - Mouth of War (isn't a cover really... more of a turning a song and making it better by adding lyrics and heavy guitar).
Song featured on Doom originally.

HakTaisanip 08-02-2006 07:00 AM

I prefer Alien Ant Farms version of "Smooth Criminal" to Jacksons.

Others I think are good:

"Saturday Night's alright (for fighting)" by Nickelback
"Behind Blue Eyes" by Limp Bizkit

I'm sure there must be others I like but I can't think of them right now
