Hey everyone,
I'm partial to this series, as I feel it gives all spirits a bad rep. I think it's movies like this and society that make all spirits seem mischievous, harmful, or just pure evil... Am I taking this too serious? I've have yet to see it, because I don't like Horror movies in general. But I have seen the trailer, IS IT REAL?? Do you think, they are exploiting the supernatural world, or degrading it?? I would love your opinion!! |

It's TV. So the creators want to make a show/movie that scares people. Just as we know there aren't zombies or vampires, most of us know that those shows are entirely created for the "horror/wow" factor as well.
They've been around since the beginning and will always be created as long as people "like" that kind of foolishness. I mean look at the Piranha movies.. sure, Piranha's are real, but they don't attack you unless you have a cut for one and 2, you swim in infested waters. |

I've only seen Paranormal Activity, but not the sequels yet. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but by no means did I take it as being 100% factual. It's entertainment, and since people seem to love to be scared, this type of movie is always going to be around. As pointed out, this wasn't about people interacting with spirits, this was ordinary people attempting do-it-yourself Ghost Busting... with what turned out to be a demon. They took no precautions, didn't heed warnings, etc. The husband in this first movie treated it all with bravado and recklessness.
Do I think they're exploiting the spirit world? No, I think they're exploiting people who enjoy being scared. And perhaps it is good that a bit of fear is instilled in people's minds about playing with this sort of thing. |

Is it real? No, it's not. The reason I know this is because in the first one people have been killed. If it was real, either the police would have it as part of their investigation or the family would have it and proebely wouldn't exploit their loved one's death. Even if they did, the movie makers would have to get it cleared by some government regulation, and I don't see anyone allowing that to happen. Just like any horror movie, that is all that it is, a horror movie.
If I believed it was real, then I would say yes, it's exploiting spirits, but since it's not real, it exploits it no more than "Casper". |

I love all 3 of the movies. The way it keeps you at the edge of you seat. It isn't real. They are all actors. Its just a scary movie. I agree. .I think it is good that they are proving if you are having activity not to disrespect or challenge something u have not studied or seeked advise on how to get rid of. I believe play the game he did can open doors for something worse than a ticked off spirit. This was a fun topic..thank u
