Taken from Treatise on Astral Projection -- Robert Bruce (Part 2, Death):
When you leave your body for the final time, at death, this is what I believe will happen: 1) Do you believe that this process is the same for every person, regardless of the amount of "spiritual" acts or knowledge they have performed or gained in that present life? 2) Would suicide affect this process? 3) Other opinions on this topic are valued .. 1) Do you believe that this process is the same for every person, regardless of the amount of "spiritual" acts or knowledge they have performed or gained in that present life? If we look at the literature of other frequent projectors (gurus) there does seem to be some variation. The main deviation seems to be that a lot of other literature says a soul might choose to reincarnate in the physical (after spending some time in the astral) instead of moving on. Monroe also seemed to suggest that this purging of desires and moving on is not necessarily automatic, that is a person has to consciously do such a thing (spiritually evolve?) so might be caught in the astral/physical for a very long time.
2) Would suicide affect this process? This is purely personal opinion based upon my own findings and explorations, but suicide can affect this process. The main difference is that the person who committed suicide will not have automatically resolved all the issues which made the carry out this act. Taking such feelings into the astral (where anything can be made manifest easily) can lead to an unpleasant experience until they realise what is happening or resolve these issues (which might be easier in the astral). I believe any uncomfortable experiences would be self generated (unintentionally perhaps). But after they resolve any lingering issues they would progress like anyone else. An exception might be someone who commits suicide because they realise all their tasks in life are complete. Such a person would not have any baggage attached to the act so might be free to progress as they wish. Some will not agree with this, mainly those entrenched in karmic teachings who see suicide as a crime against the higher self (which I definitely do not). 3) Other opinions on this topic are valued .. As stated, I can agree with the process on the whole, but think it's not automatic. one might return to the physical a large number of times before they "see the bigger picture". And it seems that some beings that evolve past the astral and higher levels do return on occasion - or at least are able to communicate with the lower planes. |
