Default Windows installation thread
I am trying a clean install of Windows xp, but as it installs files it gets stuck on video. It says the file has been corrupted. Anyway around that?

I tried another solution where I had an earlier version of xp but when I type in the cd key it says invalid.
so I went into i386 file, to unattend and took the cd key from there but when I type that in it says invalid key.

I am stumped.

Once XP validation Key becomes invalid you must send for new software to reboot you computer from the manufacturer. Your gonna have to pay a fee.

If you had Windows 7 or Vista upgraded to your system it automaticly unvalidates your XP key.

I don't think that would work anyway. Microsoft no longer supports xp

Actually the only upgrade was xp service pack 3. The one I am trying to use is Service pack one. That is because my newer one had the corrupted file.

I think I will go way back in time and put in 2000 until I can get a hold of Windows 7.

That's while I always have both Linux Red Hat and whatever Windows OS installed on whatever desk tops/lap tops I, or my family uses in our household.

I was hoping there would be a couple of computer geeks who could show me a trick around it.

Call Microsoft and get a new cd key, either that or download a key generator from a torrent file sharing site, they're a dime a dozen.

You'll need a torrent downloader, I use Utorrent, then spend the time figuring out which sites seem trustworthy, if you see a bunch of porn advertisements, that'd be not unlike a clue it's not trust worthy.
