This is actually an older story which just became updated. Why it's showing a picture of Steven Gerrard is beyond me as this wouldn't affect England, or other Home Nations, games at the tournaments. It would only mean teams like Spain, Italy and Brazil would have their games shown on the pay-TV services (Sky, ESPN etc).
And no, football clubs don't earn anything from International tournaments like the World Cup being shown on Sky. Stuff like the Champions League yes (that's actually a very good earner) and their own leagues, but no, not International Tournaments. |

Here's a rundown.
FIFA have the rights to any and all World Cup matches. If they wanted to FIFA could broadcast every single World Cup match on FIFA.com, but that's not very smart because it doesn't make them any money (unless they charged), but it certainly wouldn't make it anywhere near as lucrative as selling it to the various TV stations around the world, but they leave that to the various football associations to sort out themselves. The FA get the best price for these tournaments over a few tournaments and tell FIFA "ok this is happening" and it goes on. So the TV stations (like BBC) pay the FA who pay FIFA. Now as for the Champions League that's slightly different because the Clubs get TV appearence money because of the different deal in place. In the case of Spanish football in England, Sky Sports broadcast that, but that involves Sky Sports negotiating directly with the Spanish FA. |

I understand the proccess you told me. And yes, that's how thing goes relative to international tournamets and TV rights negotiation.
I will show you some numbers: Last year UEFA allocated € 754M to prizes for those clubs playing Champios League. From these 754M, 3.9M was paid to each participating team, only for participation, independently of the round the reach. 800k each victory, 400k for draw match. What do I mean? All money goes to the same place, FIFA or UEFA or CONCACAF or whatever...and those associations deal with the money so either countries FA or club recieve it. I hope you understand my English, coz I'm from Spain... Regards. Edit: By the way, tomorro final score, England 1 - Spain 4 xD |

If FIFA and UEFA win their appeal, I will be horrified that I would have to get a subscription. I think it should remain on non-Pay TV channels
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-13358827 And there is alleged corruption in FIFA. |
