Default To play or not to play?
Havent played soccer for the last four years since I tore the meniscus in m knee.

At a friends 50 th on sat night, al my old soccer mates were there and were trying to talk me into signing up for the over 35's social comp.

I sooo want to play, but I'm scared I'll hurt my knee again.

I'm not getting any younger, and most of the opposition are going to be about ten years younger than me.....but I've been going to the gym to try and strengthen my knee...

I'm not worried about how I'll play, but more about what the opposition might do to me...

(can you tell I'm trying to talk myself into it)

what do you guys think?

Well i'm sort of in the same boat as in i suffered a bad knee injury which stopped me from playing football. If the offer came about to play, i'd consider it.

To answer you, give it a shot.

Its mainly because its all my old original team back together again

We all played together for over 10 years winning 9 premierships and we had a BLAST

Most of us are pushing 50, but it is a "social" comp

Its not gonna take much to convince me...

So thats one vote for "do it" thanks Springsteen

I hurt my meniscus years ago when a guy took my skates out from behind and hyper extended my knee. Took me a long time to get the strength back where it did not give out on me. I would trust your body. If you can run and make cuts and do all the moves and do not feel it giving out I would go for it. They make some braces too that might help stabilize.

Oh yeah, I'd definitely wear a brace. Its an interchange comp too, so if I'm buggered, I can call for a "sub". Might play in goals a bit too.

Couldnt do that a few years back.

So thats 2 votes for...

Nah, thanks Pete. I dont really need convincing, I'm gonna do it.

I haven't injured my knees too badly before, but damaged both my Achilles running in the Great North Run (a half marathon) years ago. I finished but it was at a cost. I'm only now (slowly) getting back to those distances. I suppose, like with the meniscus, my achilles will always be a weakness, and like you, I just have to realise there are some things I can't do when I'm running.....in my case if I do too much too soon they start suffering again.
