We've probably all said it at one time or another but where did that phrase come from and why was it ever said? My mom just said it and when I asked her what it meant, she had no idea so I did a bit of net browsing. This is what I found.

The quote is attributed to:
Harvey Kuenn
I didn't know (after seeing a spectacular over-the-shoulder catch) whether to shit or go blind.

he was referring to this history making catch by Willie Mays in the 1954 World Series.
