I am more surprised about Serena not making the list. #50 is ca 17 million. I am pretty sure she used to make more than that in the past.

Why? He's been out of the public at large attention for a while. Popped in very briefly last year with his final, but then vanished again just as quickly. He'd have to win a major or start beating Rafa and Fed more than once a year to get significant attention again. Harsh, but the US consciousness has ignored him of late as he has not accomplished much in their eyes. Especially since the "mojo" fiasco I don't recall major public endorsements.

The numbers are pretty much guesstimated. There were examples of differences of up to 20 million between these rankings and Forbes rankings.

Bet Serena makes the list in reality

Is this list limited to...what they make in sports? Because that would explain why she isn't on the list...

According to celebrityworth (that tracks celebrities income) Serena is worth a cool 85 million dollars........

Difference between "worth", and earnings, Missin. This listing is what these athletes earned in 2009 solely, based on winnings and endorsement deals. "Worth" is tied to long term investments, value of deals over extended periods of time, and other factors.
