Yes, I have cats that do this too. I wonder though, since your cat bolts, if maybe he is just sharpening his claws and not actually "knocking." Mainly, my cats would do this at the back door when they wanted out. Sometimes when they wanted in too, but, would result in meowing if we couldn't hear them. Hope your cat isn't ruining your door though!

I cannot say that either of my cats to that. However, when Tabitha, my older Manx, wants to get under the bed covers, she taps my wife on the shoulder three times to let her know to lift up the covers.
I do not understand why she does not roast under there considering she is a medium haired Colorado cat. |

Yes. My cat does the same thing however most times after I open the door, she runs inside my bedroom and lays there. I think she misses her cuddle time with mommy and wants attention. If she turns around and bolts it's usually because she's hungry and it's time to refill the cat bowl with fresh food and water.

Does anyone else's cat like "knocking" on the door by scratching it when they want attention? My cat Max does that, but then as soon as I open the door, he turns around and bolts!
He is a mischievous thing and likes playing knock-a-door-run on us... Of course I am always going to get the door because I couldn't deprive my Max of attention, and he knows this! |
