Maybe it's just because I've been doing it for so damn long.. but I really don't find c/r to be a hassle AT ALL. I think you have to be pretty damn lazy if shutting a crate door (or more than one, if you have multiple dogs) is THAT big of a hassle...

Growing up, we hunted with an English cocker spaniel, and had friends with brittanys and setters. We had a lot of land and would frequently dog-sit. It never seemed strange to us to keep the dogs APART. We had a dog run in the backyard, a secure wrap around deck, and a couple of cages under the house (We lived in FL and our house was on slits.)

I just don't get how people think dogs will get along all the time, regardless of breed.
