I know all dogs are different...so I'm just curious as to what age your dogs started to grey a little...and what color they are (seeing if there is a pattern)
I'm asking because Willow is starting to grey a bit on her muzzle. It's nothing too bad...but being OCD I noticed it this morning ![]() She's a black dog and only 16 months old, Raj is red, and going to be 2 years in a month and a half...he has no grey lol So...when did your dogs start to grey? |

Pongo- 12 yrs old when I noticed it. He had a mostly white face anyways it starting going back into his black areas.
Ronon is graying now a lot. He will be 7 yrs old this year. Circe has grayed a lot. It is not really noticeable unless you look at older pics. She is technically a tricolor, but her faced has grayed to the point the tan points are all white and she looks just white/black now. Rocky is 8 and has little no grey. Casper probably would, but being a Dogo and solid white, you can't tell! The black Great Dane my roommate had, started graying at 18 months and by the time she was 3, her face was almost all white. |

Sheaba started getting gray around the time she turned 10-12. By the time I lost her at 14, she had a lot of gray in her muzzle.
I had Maxx for 11 years, but he was 13-14 when he died, and he had started getting gray the last 2 years I had him. Gizzmo is 13 years old, but he has a silver coat, so you don't notice the gray on him. Mollie is 7 and I'm starting to see a tiny bit of gray on her, but she also has had some white around her muzzle since she was a pup, so it's hard to tell if it's gray or just the white. I've only lost 2 dogs so far, and both started getting gray around 10ish years old. I would think if the dog is only 16 months old, it's still very much in the puppy stage and maybe just has a little white around the muzzle. 16 months is too young to be turning gray already, right?

Lily at 3-4. She is a totally different color next to her blaze on her face now. It used to be almost black and now its all grey. Her ears have a lot of grey in them too. She's 5 now. Her whole head is gonna be white by the time she's like 10! Its harder to see because of her color pattern, but she's greying on her feet/legs too.
My parent's BC is finally greying this year. He's like 8. And for comparison! Crappy lighting, but I love this pic. Lily @ about 1yr. ![]() About 1yr again ![]() @3 ![]() This is the most recent face shot. Its a crappy pic, you can't really see how grey she is very well. But I don't seem to have many portrait shots of her! Usually its on runs that I've got the camera out, so yeah.

Rocko- 4yrs, white w/blue spots... no grey
Dozer- Almost 3yrs, blue fawn and white.... no grey Onyx- 4yrs, seal and white.... ![]() ---------- Post added at 09:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:48 PM ---------- Some of this I think is actual greying but some of it is most likely from her rubbing her face from allergies.. and when her hair grows back in it's white or grey. |

^^ Could rubbing cause this as well? Willow had demodex and was scratching like crazy and now her seasonal allergies are acting up so she is back to itching a bit again...could that be possible? ---------- Post added at 11:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:20 PM ---------- Boo is just over a year, and looking back at pics fron Jan, her grey flecks are spreading... except they are on her butt. It almost looks like she sat in white paint and has a little white speckle on her butt cheeks. She seems to do everything backwards! |
