Default oh i wanna cry!
so i just got back from a mini vacation went home to iowa for a wedding.
i left Leon at a boarding kennel, and left Maci with a lady i know and thought i could trust.
well spent a whole morning putting their meals into bags by portion. one bag for the a/m on for the p/m for each day. tried to make feeding them raw REALLY simple for the sitters.

i got back and Maci was SOOOO fat. i'm not even exaggerating i almost thought maybe she had another yorkie there.
i want to cry. Maci was 8.19lbs when I left, she had lost about 1/2lb and needed to get down to about 7.5-8lbs to be at a healthy weight. i was like "Oh my goodness she's a porker!" and my friend was like "Yeah she would eat all her food and then go eat Missy's!" {her dog's name} I was just like, well why didn't you put her in her kennel while Missy ate, or lock her in a different room. She feeds her dogs Old Roy and I'm so NOT impressed. Letting Maci eat Old Roy and her Raw is like...counter productive!!! lol My friend's dog is really overweight too, so i'm almost not surprised!

I'm pretty sure she is well over 9lbs right now. That's 1.5lb over weight on a dog her size, that's a really big deal. So here we go, gotta start all over getting her weight back down. I'm so mad...there is a reason she is on Raw and there's a reason I gave you her meals individually measured and bagged up for the week!!! GAHHHHH.

I don't know if you can tell from these pics the difference, maybe I should have taken one from above...

BEFORE.

AFTER: I don't even know if she can stretch out like above right now! she can barely run up 5 stairsteps!!

omg yeah, you can def. see the difference... just looking at those comparisons make me cringe.

OMG Poor pup!! She is ganna be detoxing from that garbage for a long time too, I think the worse is yet to come if she was being let to eat ol'roy for a week..I am terrified that when I let my friends watch my boys I am ganna end up with a load of problems, I am ganna have to do the same thing with Goren and individual bags of raw, and Logan with his kibble so it will be easy but I fear that they will overfeed still...I hope my fears are wrong though

Just thought I'd point that out..

Anyway, this is why I'm so paranoid about leaving my dogs with people! Luckily, my parents have always been able to watch mine if we go out of town for a show (that's about the only time I'll leave town LOL). I'm sure you'll get her down to her appropriate weight soon! I hope that Old Roy doesn't mess with her stomach too much..

Oh, thanks Kady for the bold I totally missed that part of the post.

Still. Snow will eat all the dogs food in the house if I don't watch her. This being the reason why all food is picked up when she is in the house.

And Ol'Roy??!?!?!?! OMG Thats like the worse food you can feed a dog not even eating kibble.

I hope she's alright. D:

I'm sure she'll be fine. I hate to sound insensitive, but it's not that big a deal. Fat can be lost, and crappy dog food for a week isn't going to kill her.

I took a lot of pride in her and how she looked. And was working her as much as I could with the winter being full swing... she even was doing flirt pole, now she barely can play tug!

My friend fed her the raw I sent, but then she let Maci eat out of her dogs bowl. She told me she wouldn't, and that she would put the food up when she left for work. But she didn't, she told me there were a few days Maci ate all the old roy before she could stop her... UGH!

I don't care if my friend doesn't mind that her dog is obese, but I DO care about mine! I'm just very irritated. My closest family is a 16hr drive south, so I don't have the "luxury" of close family, and she is one of my only friends here and I didn't want to pay for two dogs to be in a Kennel. I almost thought maybe she did it because she was so jealous that people always comment on how amazing Maci looks and never say anything about her dog when we're together. But that could just be me being arrogant and big headed hahaha. I'm sure she meant well. I'm just upset. Very.

It is a big deal when I have spent the past 7 months exercising her in ways most other small dog owners would never do. And she looked awesome, she had tone, she could run all day, she was in awesome shape. It took a lot of work and so yes, I am upset lol. I mean she can barley run inside from the yard without panting hahaha and barking makes her reverse sneeze now!

I can understand being upset after seven months of work. I hope this time around is easier, but some of that muscle should still be there... it's just buried for now.

Yeah that muscle is in there somewhere she didn't just loose it all in 7 days but it's definitely buried pretty well. She's the opposite of Leon it's hard to keep weight OFF of her so it'll probably take awhile, but I really hope not too long!!

MJJ/Joe, exactly haha! She's not my lean li'l dog anymore... she looks like a mini pig!!! haha

That sucks! I would be so upset.
I think a good bit of it is she's just full. She's been on raw for a long time. With raw the dog takes in almost all of the food. Everything is used because there is no fillers. So they don't have that bloated/full look all the time.
So I would guess in a few days after she's had time to empty out, she will look a little better. I wouldn't think a week of an all you can eat buffet of kibble would cause her to gain that much "fat". She may be a little more lethargic now but we all get that way after a big thanksgiving weekend eating a huge meal at 3 different houses lol.
Sorry this happened. Hope it's not to bad and she's shapes back up soon.

I was just going to ask about that. How much of that do you think will run out the other end?

I have *heard* that with smaller dogs it tends to be easier to keep weight off so it's advised to feed them 3 small meals instead
. Just a suggestion! Maybe that will help her lose that weight! =)
