Default Shade trees for chain spots
Not sure where to post this so move it if in the wrong area...

Im looking at some trees to buy for shade for the dogs chain spots in our new place, does anyone know a few of the fastest growing ones? We already have quite a few shade trees there but since i will most likely be keeping a couple more dogs there for an unknown amount of time, i need to add some more trees. any ideas? i only know of the hybrid poplar.

If they grow as fast as they say. Their the greatest tree in the world. When we buy some property I'm gonna level it, and set my yard up perfectly. It'll be tree, dog, tree.

gatorpit, ive dealt with maples and theyre best farrr away from the yard LOL. i would normally consider a maple but since i will also be having my horse shipped in a few months, i can not have it anywhere near the pasture.

crimson i did some quick research on it and people have confirmed they do infact grow that fast BUT, theyre hard to get started for the first year. after that, they said they do their own thing. so i think i will be going with them, thanks!

No problem did it say if the ones, who had problems the first year used the fertilizer packets they sell.

no they didnt. one website who gave a full page review of the company said anything with above 6.5 PH soil will have issues.. but all the people that had exp with them just said they love and need water for the first year, this coming from someone on a forum who has over 200 of them, they also said once theyre there, they dont die for anything. but they did not state which of the three they had.. but the popular vote seems to be gold pannar and kiowa giant.

I'm gonna go with the gold pannar. Neat color and bigger leaves.

Silver maples grow pretty quick and have tiny little leaves, not as ba as full maples for raking.

Maples are great for the shade though too. A great idea. You can get cute puppies in the leaves pics too!!

any tree that grows fast, maples included, is a soft tree and will shed BIG brances in a storm very easily. somethin to consider.
i have 2 giant shady sycamore trees that id love to put a dog under, but itd probably be dead and the doghouse smashed the first wind/ice storm we had.

yes ive considered this, normally in a huge storm all of my dogs are crated inside anyways, and on the plus side, FIREWOOD lol. i really dont have the time to wait 10 years for a tree to grow so.
