If this dog was a bully breed, you wouldn't hesitate to euthanize. Obviously a small dog like that isn't going to do as much damage but with small children, a good bite in the right place could prove deadly.

IMO any dog that has HA needs to be PTS regardless of breed unless it is a guardian breed USED for guarding. HA is NEVER permissible in the bullies EVER, and should not be in the little shit dogs either.

Put him down, he won't bite anymore.

Personally, I think most small dogs are unstable and therefore extremely aggressive. Because of their size, people don't see them as a threat so don't treat them the same as the would a larger dog.

The dog has human aggression. Put it down before you have a real problem.

^ Exactly, for the most part anyways. Tons of small dogs are stable and well mannered, most of them come from good breeders and are kept by good owners.
Tell them to either give the dog to someone who knows what they are doing or have it PTS.

How long have they had this dog?

I have some question.....

How long have they owned this dog?

When did this behavior start?

Has he grown up around kids and has he been teased by them at all?

What kind of terrier is he?

Tell your cousin's PARENTS that they need to put the dog down. Legally speaking, your cousin is 10 years old. She has no legal ownership over the dog. It's her parents' responsibility. And it's THEM that will pay if there is a lawsuit.

Then tell them to get educated on his breed, if they care they will.
They sound like they don't know anything about dogs at all, therefore I would assume this dog is acting in such a manner as a result.

I don't think there is any real way to stop the biting. If the dog doesn't like people, nothing can change that really. Only thing, aside from PTS which I guess isn't happening, is to keep the kids away from the dog. Does the dog have a crate or somewhere "safe" to get away from the kids? If the kids have been teasing the dog, then its probably biting out of frustration and anger and just wishes to be left alone. It's also probably a smart idea to not pick the dog up anymore since it obviously hates it.

Unfortunately your relatives probably won't get it until the dog ends up biting a kid in the face bad. ;/
Sad situation.

I don't tolerate HA in any dog. That goes for the little ones and the big ones. Bites caused from fear may be different, and worked through, but snarky, dominant, aggressive behavior just gets on my nerves and is a liability. The little dogs seem to be anthropomorphized much more than the bigger breeds; the dog, the humans they live with, and visitors to the home suffer because of it. I'd suggest owner education, a trainer, re-homing, or euthanasia.

yup i agree with you guys 100% and yes i know its my cousin parents responsibility but they let my ten year old cousin keep it in her room and she takes it out when she pleases so i really cant help them they dont listen to me and the dog gets irritated all the time i actually feel sorry for him. i also had another cousin that was 5 that had a regular yorkie but he got out and left i dnt blame him at all. well the one with the mini yorkie was six when she got a toy poodle (my dogs little brother) and he got out and left to so they got her a mini yorkie in his place i said a poodle was fine but a terrier bad idea for a young child but they do not listen i guess the poor thing is unfortunate to land in such a crappy unexperienced home. :/

If they don't want to learn or even consider options, there's nothing you can do about it.

Personally, I'm not close to anyone outside of my immediate family so I'd have no problem calling the cops or animal control on them.. But that's just me and my messed up family.

Here is what I think.... The parents have allowed children to poke and prod on this dog and agitate it for over a year without intervening. That was their FIRST mistake. Second, if they do not put the dog down, that is their choice. However, that being said, it will be their PROBLEM when that dog bites some kid that is over visiting and they end up getting sued. That little mini Yorkie could end up costing them TONS of money when someones parents sue the crap outta them because they owned a human aggressive dog and they KNEW this dog was a bite risk, and they did nothing to prevent that dog from biting someone. And trust me, if that dog bites the right persons' kid, they WILL be sued, and they very well could lose their home and everything they own. Something to think about.

They won a human aggressive dog, period. Whether it's a pit bull or a Yorkie, that dog is a bite risk and they are taking a huge gamble of it biting someones kid. Sure it's a small dog and will do less damage than a large dog. But that doesn't mean that it won't cause enough damage to cause some kid a few trips to a plastic surgeon, and just because its small and doesn't do as much damage doesn't mean they won't be sued by someones parents. If they are willing to take the risk, then they deserve the consequences. As for my part though, I would stay FAR away from them.

*FYI-- I work for an insurance company in claims..... I see lawsuits every single day from dog bites, and believe it or not, most are from small dogs. But the lawsuits are HUGE and the payouts are large.... and the insureds that own the biting dogs, usually are dropped from the insurance company after the lawsuit is settled.

If a dog bites a kid its should be pts regardless of the breed. This dog has bitten several people, IMO its should be pts end of story.

Dogs are not toys, and it sounds like she is treating it like a toy. Treat it like a dog and maybe it'll act like a proper dog.
