My boy was a squatter 100% of the time up until about a month or two ago (he's 1 1/2) now he still squats most of the time but occassionally while squatting he will also lift a leg.
I prefer the squatting actually. Its also turned into a great conversation started for people unsure about him. They laugh that a male squats and ask about him. I had the work several times in getting unsure people to pet him and listen a bit about the breed |

You don't want that. Then he'll stop to piss on everything. ![]() |

I've always wondered about this. Do neutered males still attempt to "mark" anything? When we take Peyton for a walk, he pees at least 4-5 times, more if its a really long walk. Is he marking? Or just...peeing. |

My FEMALE Doberman (dominant bitch) used to squat AND lift her leg at the same time trying to mark things when she peed.
Grimm doesn't "hike" his leg. He just lifts it straight up in the air and does a squat/hike. Grimm doesn't mark even when we take him out for a walk. He couldn't care less about other dogs. With Gidget, you'd think her rear end was glued to the ground. |

neutered has nothing to do with it, its their way of communicating like lilly, "this is mine, that is mine, oh mine too.. OH HELL NO HE MARKED MY LAST SPOT?" *pee pee peee* lol |
