Default Doggy Fears
My moms' lab (my "heart dog" I suppose) is extremely afraid of fireworks and halloween masks, that kind of thing.

Bransen is afraid of balconies, bridges, man-made heights in general. He was left on a balcony for the first month of his life away from his mother, so obviously he has good reasoning.
He is shy of strangers, men in particular, and doesn't like going near them.
He is extremely afraid of rats.
He barks and runs away from them.

What is your dog afraid of?

Well Harley has SA so I guess saying hes afraid of being alone is safe lol other than that I have yet to come across something that Harleys afraid of suprisingly. Hes actually pretty brave (hes not always the smartest dog so thats probably why).
My lab is afraid of water, whether its a bath/hose or a lake, she isnt thrilled.

My dally growing up was terrified of fireworks and thunder. We had to sedate her on the 4th every year becuase she would get so worked up we were afraid of her having a heart attack or something. And durring storms usually one of us kids ended up sleeping in the kitchen with her because she refused to be left alone (she wasnt allowed in the house other than when she was freaking out like that) Its a nice change to have a dog whos not afraid of that type of thing.

The one time I have seen Harley terrified was when my son cranked my inlaws sterio up full blast (one that has 3ft tall speakers) and, while Harley was on his bed right in front of the speaker, turned the sterio on. It wasnt on a station so it was ear piercing static. Harley rocketed off his bed and attemtpted to jump the wooden baby gate from the bed (a good 6+ feet away), ended up going though it and ran to the far end of the house shaking, giving me the look like "what the hell was that?!?!" Once I got it turned off I sat myself down on the floor infront of the sterio to calm myself and my son down and I called Harley over, suprisingly he, though very cautiously, came to me when called and we sat there for a good 10 minutes until we all calmed down. I worked with him for a few minutes after to get him ok with being by the speaker again, at first he wasnt wanting to go anywhere near the speaker, but it didnt take long for him to get over the whole incident. Fortunatly the second time my son did it Harley was in his crate in our room with the door shut so it didnt bother him.

Luigi is terrified of crustations, dead and cooked, no less. I love snow and king crad legs, but the sight of them defrosting on the counter or god forbid, sitting in a big bowl on the table sends him into hysterics. Lobster freaks him out but not as much. He has only seen something like this alive once, down the shore (jersey) my brother in law went crabing and brought home a few blue crabs and put one down in front of Luigi. He was about 5 months old then and he barked at it and danced around and play bowed at it trying to get it to play with him. So alive he wants to make friends but dead they will suck his soul right out of him. He is also scared of a schizophrenic lady who wanders around our neighborhood dressed all in white and wrapped up in white bed sheets talking to herself. She is harmless and actually likes him, but he is having none of it and I don't really blame him, her face is ussually draped in white gauzy material.

When I brought Frieda home from the pound she was afraid of the broom, vacuum, my camera and cell phone. She's gotten used to the broom so I can sweep the floor while she's eating and she won't run away, she's getting betterwith the vacuum.
She still goves my camera and phone the evil eye whenever she's sees them...

Lily was afraid of a myriad of stuff when I first brought her home. It was pretty clear as to why... Luckily she's overcome all that.

The only thing she's really afraid of now are fireworks. She HATES them. Fine with thunder and guns being fired next to her though. Go figure.

The BC I had growing up was terrified of thunder. Even old and deaf as a post he was still scared. One time during an evening thunderstorm I got up to go to the bathroom and he was in the hallway by the linen closet. None of the doors or windows were open, no clue at all how he got inside.

Ya everyone seems to think thats pretty sad. She shakes so bad when I give her a bath and when we went to the lake she got her feet wet a time or two to drink a bit but only when Harley was right by her.. as soon as he left she high tailed it as far from the water as her leash let her and wasnt coming closer. Shes also extrememly DA.. pathetic excuse for a lab really lol

Pooh is afraid of the vacuum cleaner and blow dryer definitely....oh and mums and pumpkins!

Actually the mums and pumpkins were things that showed up outside the house that freaked him out! But he got over it. He's just freaks out over new stuff in his environment -- mainly outside. The neighbors put an old fridge on the curb a couple months ago. We had to walk on the other side of the street!

Lucy is terrified of wood pallets. Wood on it's own is fine, but you construct it into a pallet and it's a demon sent from hell to skin her alive.

Ethel doesn't like being snuck up on by strangers. Aside from that, she fears nothing. But she's basically the size of a person, so I can understand her confidence.

Damas, I can't really think of anything he's scared of. If it's something new he doesn't quite trust, he'll growl at it a bit and stare intently, but once he's decided it's not a threat he doesn't care, and usually tries to pee on it. He does hate strollers though and tries to eat them.

Oh, they all aren't too fond of the sound of fireworks, but they don't even blink when they hear a gun shot, or a series of gun shots when we go out to the country and shoot guns.

Nick is scared of fireworks and thunder.

Rosie is scared of ..... cats? Getting in trouble? Not much.
She doesn't like cigarette smoke, but I wouldn't say she's scared of it.

Haha, Kit, Bransen is scared of getting in tourble, too. Forgot that one!
Well, yeah, smoke is reasonable.
I don't know a dog yet who takes kindly to cigarettes.
Ganja on the other hand....

Peyton hates the sound of the trashcans being brought in too. God forbid we take him out to potty (on his leash, always) and we bring the trashcans in at the same time. Poor thing nearly wets himself.

His biggest #1 thing that he hates, is nail polish or nail polish remover. Something aout the smell, sends him RUNNING. He does this weird 'nose to the air' thing with his head, his eyes roll back and he takes off urnning. Usually he comes back and growls and barks and opens his mouth all weird. He has to be in another room when I do my nails. It's REALLY weird.

Aggs hates guitars and guitar cases. Whenever someone starts playing, she runs and hides under the coffee table.

She can also be skittish around unfamiliar men but we haven't figured out what sets her off. With some men she is perfectly fine but with others she is tentative and starts whining or barking. It isn't correlated with height or voice pitch as far as we can tell.

She was also afraid of water/rain but seems to be getting over that.
