IMO the first one is the best (they are all great though). I'm not sure what to recommend else you add, I think the lights would be beautiful but they'd have to be done right. Do you trust the artist alot, because if s/he's good enough I think the first pic with the lights behind her and maybe her reg name would be stunning.

That's good, if he's great at what he does and you like the idea, I think the lights in the backround would be beautiful.

Portrait tattoo's are tough to get right, I'd get something like this instead if you're going to get a dog tattoo:

Good looking dog BTW.

For a long time I thought I wanted to have a portrait of Gypsy done on my shoulder.

Recently I've been thinking a paw print might be better, and after seeing someone's (I'm so sorry I can't remember who!) pictures of their paw print tattoo on this forum, I know that is what I want. Exact copies of Gypsy's paw

But, if you go for the portrait, I like the first photo as well. Just be sure when you start looking for an artist that you ask to see a portfolio, especially of dogs with brindle. I've been randomly searching for a while, and most of the tattoo artists can't seem to do brindle markings very well (not saying all, just the ones I've been checking out.)

I would show the photos to your Tattoo artist and allow them to help you make the choice some artist will do better with one photo versus another also he may use a combination of the three to get the picture right. if you trust him show him the photos tell him what your looking for and let him draw it up

I'd probably take another pic... reason being, dogs with open mouths can turn out mean-looking in a tattoo. The first pic is a really good pose, but it's dark and the shadowing in the tattoo may not turn out.
