Default What should I do?
I don't know why I do this to myself but...

http://cleveland.craigslist.org/pet/1847216192.html

This puppy needs a home. I talked to the guy and he doesn't seem to know what he is doing! He and his friends fancy themselves as breeders but aren't willing to put in the work with this pup.

I'm pretty sure I could take him, they want 70.00 to rehome him, and foster him and then rehome him once he is over 8 weeks... but what do you all think?

What would you do?

I have to talk to my fiance about it too lol.

3 weeks?! Poor pup, that stinks.

If you did take this pup, first please don't support their idiocy by giving them one dime. It is sickening that they are trying to make money off of this ... pathetic.

But yeah the pup needs help; it should never have been brought into this world but now it is here.

What other dog(s) do you have? This pup will need to be brought into a household with another, mature, stable dog that will teach him doggie manners and just, how to BE a dog. They do not sound like suitable fosters; a 4-month old dog that is a handful itself is not going to teach the little "infant" properly, so if you take him do it ASAP.

Just some things to consider

I have a male. He has a great temperment and is great with puppies/small dogs. I don't know how I could get the dog without paying them though. I might be able to get them to take less, that's all I can think of.

Yeah I hear you about the $$

Sounds like your dog would be a good "dad." It will be aggravating for him for a while!

I talked with my fiance and he is going to get him. He is worried what will happen if we don't. I guess we feel like at least we could give him a chance and if he turns out to have a crappy temperment we are willing to put him down, time will tell.

By getting a dog at a shelter you are supporting the problem ect... ect... I don't agree with what they do, but I feel for the dog and I am going to give him a chance. He didn't ask to be born into a household full of idiots.

Dogs didn't ask to be homeless in a shelter either. It's your choice, good luck in whatever you decide to do. Are you going to keep him or adopt him out?

We are going to find him a responsible home. First trip is the vet, then get him fixed once he is old enough. We won't rehome a dog that isn't fixed. I really don't know at this point.

Oh I know they didn't ask to be homeless in a shelter either. My sister got Bubba from a shelter before we adopted him from her. I have no issue with shelters. I just think a dog in need is a dog in need.

I had my fiance call and we aren't going to get him. The line of work my fiance is in allows him to be a pretty good reader of people and he said he wasn't even sure they guy had any dogs. He felt like it might be a way to rob people or worse. The address the guy gave him came up as a Hardware store and he wouldn't give him his last name. He doesn't think it is safe, so if there is a poor puppy I hope they take care of him or find someone who will.

I think the difference is when you get the dog at the shelters, you aren't giving the byber the money. If the BYBer keeps getting money for their pups, they will keep producing more pups, even if the person is getting the pup to "save it". The BYB doesn't care as long as the money is obtained. So, the BYB keeps producing more pups that need "saving" and someone with the best of intentions comes and saves it, and the cycle continues.

If the BYBer stopped getting money, even by trying a piety plea, then they'd stop producing pups (if they are just the money hungry byber).

So true CHJ. Thanks for trying to help this pup, but it's good you guys are going with your gut and not giving in to a BYB.

I knowwwwwww... but I did get a good washer and dryer from there! I guess pets should come from rescues/shelters and proven breeders.

Yeah craigslist is bad.
I found a decent house to rent through there the summer I got Sasha. I had to move to keep her since new management at the apartments changed all the pet rules on us. No biggy, apartments suck.

This last move when I was looking for a place with a yard I saw a house for rent that looked just too good to be true so out of curiosity I sent an email to ask about it.

Short version:

"Owner" is out of the country but doesn't want the house to sit unoccupied, if we just send the first months rent and security deposit to the provided address (Honduras or some damn place like that) they will provide us with the keys and so on when the check clears.

Uh huh...

Some things it's useful for, I wouldn't use it for pets. I suspect that "puppy" was a scam setup and fortunately common sense prevailed before anyone actually went there.

Yeah... lucky for me my fiance is a bit more "worldly" than me... guess that comes with his territory... I'm lucky to have him. I'm still looking at rescuing a female puppy in the next few weeks anyways. I just sometimes have to much of a bleeding heart at times.

I have sold a bed frame on CL too... but that's about it.

Well I meant the pets part. I am sure what the OP posted was a scam to get money as well.

craigslist is useful for selling your ex boyfriends furniture that he never came to get for 5 months but is gonna have a heart attack once he finds out its all been sold under the fact it is technically abandoned. hehe.

hope there is no puppy in need of help.
