Good luck with the pup! There are some wonderful stickies in the training and behavior section about bite inhibition and other useful stuff. If you are going to have a multi-dog household you will want to read up on crate and rotate and how to use a breaking stick which is a bully owners best friend. Even if you do not have multidog household it is great to own one. I carry one everywhere I bring my dogs even if I only have one with me. You never know when there is going to be a random dog running free.

Cannot wait for pictures. I wish they would stay that small forever.

What a cutie! I would get him a little sweater or something for when it is cold at night. Puppies get cold fast.

Yeah i will. Even though he just started to eat kibble i was thinking of mixing some puppy formula. Would that work too?

Good luck.... I recieved Lola at 4 weeks of age because mother stopped feeding the litter. It is alot of work and just like a new born baby. She is now 11 weeks old and the only thing I had a problem with was her bitting, but my 3 year old chi taught her what her litter mates should have. Good luck & I can't wait to see the pictures of your new addition.

OMG he is so so tiny. he is too cute. Yes yes rescue him he needs a mamma

Ankeseiband 03-17-2010 09:50 AM

Well i found out that the pup isnt with the mother because she didnt want to feed her pups anymore after the 3 weeks so that is why he was selling the pup cause he cant take proper care of him. I will getting the pup at 8am..yey

Patabeamn 03-17-2010 10:17 AM

Thats fine once the pup is eating on its own as it doesn't really need the mother if it is. The pups littermates?

Apparently the uncle was either looking for buyers or he's going to keep them till 8 weeks. The nephew wasnt sure on what his uncle was going to do with the other 2 remaining.

Patabeamn 03-17-2010 10:34 AM

I'd start the pup on his vaccinations soon as otherwise there is more chance of him getting sick.

You can also make a puppy food mush by adding some hot water to soften the food you concern with him eating.

Yeah i do want to do that at the beginning. Anything for my boy http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/wink.png

Just watch make sure he is eating too fast. One of jezebel's litter mates always ate way too fast and would vomit and hack it up. But on the other hand, jezebel takes forever to eat. Lol

lol..ok thanks for the tip. How much do you think i should give him per serving of kibble as currently they have put him on pedigree?

Nothatspecial 03-17-2010 11:54 AM

I would switch him to a higher quality kibble. Pedigree is like junk food for dogs. You can check out the nutition forum for some good food suggestions or you can check out the website foodanaylsis.com for food ratings. I would start with what it says on the bag and then adjust it from there. I would feed him three times a dayand do not forget that since he is a puppy he will have to go potty and stuff almost right away after he eats.

Raising a puppy that young is a lot of work. Just be patience, socialize him (only after full set of thr set of shots) and that we are here if you have any questions. You are going to have to teach him what he should have learned from his mother and his littermates.

I would add the formula to his kibble until he is about 8 weeks old.Get the kind that has colostrum in it.You can make the formula and then soak the kibble in it and smash it into a ''chunky kibble porridge'' texture.Puppy canned food can be added in small amounts at about the time you are weaning him off the formula(7-8weeks).

He is a cutie pie, thats for sure.Good on you for rescuing him.http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png

I agree. I would steer clear of royal canin.Royal canin is very rich and may upset his belly.(speaking from personal exp, with hand raising pups) Taste of the wild, wellness, innova, natural balance, and wysong are all higher end foods.A good mid-range is purina pro plan, blue buffalo, diamond or nutro holistics.
You could also go RAW with the pup as well. They make raw food premade, that you just moisten and feed.Or DIY from store or butcher bought meat.So many choices!!

Cute pup...lots of work...and I'd name him "Creamsicle" since he looks like one http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png
