Help I can't decide which one I want to keep
Ok so our male and female just had a litter of puppies almost 4 weeks ago my husband and I are keeping two of them. And we are finding good homes for the rest of them. There are two that I am stuck between This little brindle guy was exactly what I wanted as far as markings and color and he was the only one that waited until I came home to enter the world but then theres this other little guy who just lately has started to tug on my heart strings a little more. Everytime I sit down he comes over to me and curls up in my lap. I love them both actually I love them all....lol. Its so hard to choose.
I was just curious how did you all pick your puppies when you went to look at them? |
They are both adorable. I like the brown and white one. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png

Cute picts!
4 weeks is not the best time to eval or pick a pup. They are too young to judge. Also it is ok to have a color preference but one should not pick because of a dog's color IMO. Take a peek this may help you: The How To Evaluate Pick a Puppy - General Dog Discussions |
Both parents are ours I know that not much of their personality shows at 4 weeks we've been handling all these puppies since day one pretty much and both of these puppies seem to be equally as sweet so far most of the other ones are already spoken for to good homes. One we're giving to my mom she just had her dog put down a couple months ago due to old age and health issues surgery would've done her more damage at this point and the others are going to people we know. I'm just looking for general opinions since I'm having a very hard time deciding.

Post them again when they are a little older. Ideally picks shouldn't be made until much closer to 8 weeks of age. A lot changes during that time frame as they develop.
Sorry to hear about your mom's dog. Run hard at the Rainbow Bridge like a pup, pain free sweet gal. |
Thanks yeah my moms dog was the greatest she was a great dane and was almost 10 years old. She lived a long very happy life. Don't worry I've been taking pics daily so I'll have tons of pictures to post...lol

If all things equal, and color is the deciding factor....Brindle. It is so eyecatching IMO. I do agree w/ patch tho, way too early

Sorry I can't help you out but temperament is most important. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png |
Well I think I'm definitley going with the little brindle guy. So far hes everything I've wanted as far as personality temperment so far which I know will change as he gets older and last but not least his coloring. Last night I was hanging out with him and he was laying on my lap on his back and I noticed that if you match his two back feet up together the whites on his back legs form a perfect heart. I'll have to get a picture and post it on here. My husband keeps saying I have to keep this one cause he was meant for me and I think hes right. Gotta go to work but I'll try to take some pics tonight and get them posted.

It would be hard to choose if it were me... but Brindles have my heart.
Was this a planned breeding? Your first or one of many? I'd be terrified to try to raise a litter of pups, I'd be freaked thinking of all the things that could go wrong and all the "what if's" about their new homes... Mollie was a Christmas present for my daughter from her (now ex) boyfriend, and Bella was a rescue that we adopted, so I really didn't pick either one of them based on anything. Bella needed a home, and I was in the right place at the right time when she was up for adoption, so I got extremely lucky! http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png |
It wasn't planned first and last so far we've gotten really lucky with the people that are going to be taking them. One couple is a married couple they do a lot of resucing and foster dogs that are going to be euthanized until they can find them a good home. Another couple is a married couple with kids one is going to my mom and another is going to a friend of ours and his wife and their kids. And we are keeping 2. So now we are down to the last 3 and we are fully prepared to keep all of them if things don't work out. We moved just so we would have the room and the running space outside for them...lol. We have turned a few people away because we didn't feel they had our puppies best interest at heart. So we'll just hold out until the right home comes along for each of them.

I wanted to ask the same questions when I first read this thread, but it was Friday evening and I was in too good of a mood http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/redface.png http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/lol.gif |
http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/s...anicsmiley.gifhttp://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/s...anicsmiley.gifOH!!!!!!!!!!!OH!!!!!!!OH!!!!
Please, for the love of God, neuter all the pups before placing them!!! One of the biggest things people on the forum who(before educating themselves) have bred regretted, was not neutering ALL the puppies before placing them. Even though you know the people who these dogs are going to(it sounds like you're doing a very nice job of placing them, too!), it doen't mean they won't accidentally wait too long to neuter their dog and accidentally cause/have another oops litter, and there's just no 100% guarantee the grandpups will find responsible homes. I'm not sure if Pit Bull Rescue Central can help, but they might be able to pay for the surgeries if you're approvedhttp://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png |
